League cup - Crystal Palace pre-match thread

Does anyone ever say to you that you plan things out a bit too much?
Nobody so far. Was only trying to put perspective to our choices for next game. E.g. If we play Sagna in midweek we can rest him for Norwich and
then he'll be back for Sevilla fresher. Unfortunately we can't do that in every position. Anyways thanks for your suggestion
Are we not allowed to make subs against Palace or Sevilla?
What will you do with your tactical plan
if a player gets a knock against Norwich
and needs to come off but it isn't one of the approved substitutes you've indicated?
the set up for palace and sevilla are what I see as our ideal starting lineup. Well definitely make changes as the needs arise (e.g.to see a game out or to get a late winner). The reason why I have predetermined substitutions in the Norwich game is because 1) I think Silva will be fit enough to get a fair amount of game time but should not be played the whole 90 mins so he'd be eased properly to full fitness
2) Kompany is the backbone of our defence and should be managed carefully even though i'm not confident about him missing out on any of the 3 games
3) Yaya Toure seems tired but I believe he's still vital to our team

Hope this clarifies

Looks like Ambrose, Glendon and Bryan won't be involved on Wednesday after their exertions tonight.
Barker, Roberts and Iheanacho almost certainly in the squad and those last two could well start.

Presumably Garcia will be in the squad too.

I think only Iheanacho will start, the others (Garcia, Roberts and Barker) will probably be on the bench.

I think Roberts should get a start, Navas had the beating of Kelly at Selhurst Park but his final ball was poor, so Roberts should have a field day.

Strongest available team to start with judicious use of the subs. Silverware is silverware, and we made a big mistake last season in this area.

I am actually not too concerned about League cup this season for two reasons.
1. We have a good chance of winning the League (Arsenal are the only challengers) and top the CL group. I would take a point at Sevilla over a loss tomorrow.
2. Given the injuries at the minute, I want no more of them. KDB in particular should be rested as he has played almost every minute this season.

Sorry, you clearly dont want to admit it, but the Scum are very much in the race also. They will not have anyone major in Europe quaking in their boots, but frankly neither will we. They went to Southampton and Everton and won. They had the better of us (albeit weakened as we were). And they are one of only two teams to beat the Scousers. Not saying we wont finish ahead of them, but it is foolish to write them off as not being contenders.
