interesting if true. Is there a public list anywhere to show which referee supports which team.

The 629m fans isn't true. As far as referees allegiances are concerned, along with a number of other posters, I attended a referees' roadshow at the ground presented by Mike Riley.

One of the things he told us was that top flight referees have to declare their, and their family's, allegiances. They aren't allowed to referee that club. There is no list of those allegiances to my knowledge, but it follows that no ref with top flight aspirations would disqualify themselves by admitting they support a club in the Premier League. Indeed, when was the last time you heard of a ref being unable to referee a game because he supported one of the clubs involved ?

Clattenburg can't referee newcastle games.

He can't referee period!

Should we have a general Rate the Referee thread so we can see the alleged leanings of all Prem refs?

Good idea.

Start with the place/year of birth to establish a potential rag affinity rating (eg Bolton, Leeds, Milton Keynes, Ireland all rate highly). Use this quantitative data #1 as input together with any supporting qualitative data input #2 (eg my brother played in the same footie team as referee x when they were kids and (insert refs name) was known to become physically aroused if the name of Ryan Giggs was mentioned in the changing room).

Review, analyse and rate the ref for any matches that he officiated in either directly involving the rags or alternatively their sworn enemy (ie us) as data point #3.

Correlate the qualitative and quantitative data with the ratings score to establish conclusions.

Applying the above methodology, it can be asserted that Lee Mason is indeed a rag loving incompetent fuckwit, and a black-belt level cock womble who should never be allowed anywhere near a City match again.

Something is up mods, the blog page returns:

Don't think the mods can control the external links. It's two years old. It's been reposted a few pages back.

-- Sun Mar 16, 2014 9:06 pm --

Sorry, I changed to a new CMS a while ago. This is the correct link now:

because he's affiliated to the Tyne and Wear FA.

I can say with 100% confidence that if exactly the same set of circumstances had happened at the other end with a City player doing to a Hull defender what Jelavic did to Kompany & then going through to be dragged back by the Hull defender Mason would have given a foul against the City forward.

Did you see Mason's face at full time when the camera panned in on him. He looked absolutely gutted.

More like the smug grin when he pulled the red for Kompany! Check it out.

Do we really need evidence?
