Leeds (H) | Post Match Thread

A lot of players today had a chance to stake a claim for Pep to think about them in the coming semi and final but only Stones can come out of that game with his head held high.

One thing that come out of the game though was evidence on why Pep is not picking Sterling at the moment, today was his big chance to give Pep a big fuck you but he didn't take it, we're going to need him during the run in so he needs to find his mojo again and quick.

I see Sterling's getting racist abuse this afternoon. What the fuck is wrong with people? Criticising him for his form is one thing. He's a big boy, I'm sure he can handle that. But to start chucking monkey emojis around is Neanderthaee Sterling's getting racist abuse this afternoon. What the fuck is wrong with people? Criticising him for his form is one thing. Some people are just ignorant cunts jim.

When you say it's been done in the past... yeah leads have been chucked away

But a lead of 14 points with 6 games left has never been chucked away, even allowing for the 2 games in hand

We're 1000 to 1 ON to win it for a reason

We just need to calm down, keep our nerve, get behind the team... and all will be fine
on paper 14 points, but 8 if UTd win games in hand. So a lot closer and not a sure thing at all

If he is a 300k a week player, I’m on 150k and never played the game. I want Haaland but no one will be able to buy Sterling outright, we need to shuffle the pack. I see a swap with Kane or I’d take cash and Hudson Odoi, Pep could polish him up.

And you can’t tell me that this wouldn’t be the game when Dias gets flattened like Van Dyke and doesn’t play again for a year. It’s clear that the most important games this fortnight are the Dortmund games, so there’s no harm in putting those first. That’s an advantage we have over Dortmund (by doing so well in the league, while they’re fighting for European qualification) so we should use it.

We’re not going to lose the league by losing this game to Leeds.
Lets hold that thought,

Rotation is fine but why would you staff 50 % of the back four with one totally spent player (Mendy) and one rusty newcomer (Ake)? One or other, not both.

That said, we lost primarily because of too many jaded, lacklustre performances. (Plus one or two shit ones.)

Hopefully it won’t affect the overall scheme of things.
Think you covered everything without going into detail.

Would have been relatively happy with a point. Why didn't Stones make that tackle at the end - he'd been our best player till then.
I'm mystified at how bad Jesus, Sterling and Cancelo were today. Bernardo too didn't play well.
Better step it up in next 2 games and am sure we will

Just a general point.....
It does not matter if we put out a A team or B team...the opposition, whoever they may be , have 2 or 3 goes and they score twice, while we have a billion goes and cant score...
We can't win every game it's just we lose the same way every time...see above...prob due to tactics....Pep has to resolve this somehow....again...
Good job KDB did not play, that could have been him and not Jesus on the receiving end of that tackle,
Leeds are Stoke ...crunchers at the best...
Wednesday is more important, but a lot of tough games coming up....
We need the Gods on our side for once....we have everything else....

I agree. But the point is in the grand scheme we don't absolutely need the win and it's a risk worth taking. On another day we could have won that game comfortably if luck went our way.
True but just because we built up a lead does not mean it’s ok to throw the hard work away. Leeds had ten men for 45 min. The squad failed today. A match winner was needed.

IF they win their two games which I believe are two tricky away games at Spurs and Leeds

Even if they do win them it's still effectively 9 points with the vastly superior goal difference

The only time ever an 8 point gap with 6 games left has been overturned was by us in 2012 but even then we had a safety buffer of a six pointer v them

I agree its not over until it is mathematically impossible. But the chances of it happening are miniscule

Maybe the human element has a more prevailing role in these types of games. Most of the players on the field today knew they would not be playing in Germany. It could of had a negative effect on their performance. You would expect the opposite and for the fringe players to bust a gut but I suspect the squad already know who is playing on Wednesday and heads dropped. Maybe I am way off the mark and it was just an off day but the concentration levels and decision making today was shocking.
