Legal Representation - a question.

If someone must respond to a legal matter within a certain time frame, who can legally respond on their behalf? Can only a solicitor do it or can a family member or friend do it?

I'm talking UK law by the way.

PMs are welcome if you want more info.

Thanks
You've not faked your own death again have you? How many times...?

It concerns CCTV recordings. I wrote a letter to our neighbour as a Right to Object about her recording visual and audio footage of us. Using the Information Commissioner's Office guidelines she has to respond in one calendar month. We have an email from her father. Is that good enough?

So as far as I understand the Information Commissioner's Office Guidelines 2012, the father may have been granted the necessary agency from his daughter to represent her. However, according to Schedule 2 of the ICOG, if she makes no further representation within 7 days, you are legally entitled to go round to her house and smash her back doors in.

Tricky question because, like everything else in the world of law, it's nuanced. I know nothing about the law surrounding this but I would say it depends on what his locus us. Is he the one doing the recording and you've addressed the original matter to the wrong person or is he authorised to respond on her behalf through, for example, power of attorney. I'd try to establish his capacity.
