Mendy is turning into a real sicknote. We can’t rely on him to be for a lengthy period. Not sure what his social media input is these days.
We are going through a rough patch. Save Merlin for another day, if Ferni is available he NEEDS to play to protect the midfield. Do not start Mahrez as he is a passenger at Leicester.
Foden deserves a start ahead of Berni or Gundog. KDB to start, try and get this game secured early, be more direct when we counter instead of getting into their half and then retreating, it just allows them to regroup.
Either we bounce back from the defeat v Palace, or we watch Spurs overtake us into 2nd by Boxing Day end.
This game will be a test of our resilience and fight.
Do they want the title or are they happy for the dippers to keep opening up a bigger lead for us to try and recover. Anything over 8 points won’t be squandered this time imo.

Sometimes worry about our coaching staff not seeing the bleedin obvious. Stones did not have a great game at Leicester - we did not win the game even with Vardy out of it & had to rely on the lottery of a penalty shootout. The way Stones played surely meant that the experiment failed miserably, not to be repeated in any important match.

The fact it was is worrying as it was clear immediately how very much out of his depth he was. There are certain positions on a football pitch that it is not possible to " play yourself in " and central midfield is certainly one of them.

I know that we MUST have him at CB but for me a much better experiment would have to be A. Laporte.

Think we might see kdb in the dinho role if he's not deemed fit enough, it's obviously not his most effective role but he can do it better than most of our other options. I think Peps plan for no fernandinho during the season was 5 at the back with wing backs but Mendy being constantly injured and no natural replacement means we won't see that. If we want to win things this year we simply have to buy in January and not buy 2nd or 3rd choice, either a mendy-like left back to allow Delph to cover dinho or a replacement for dinho, Delph can't do both simultaneously.

No team is going to win the league at Xmas. So the dippers being ahead by 4 they are now going to think they have it won already and thats a different type of pressure for them to deal with. We have come back from 5 points behind them with 3 games to play we have a lot of the contenders to come to City which is great we beat Liverpool at home that will dent them. They are getting some luck and calls going there way during the season and you need it as well.

As for the Leicester game. Get the strongest team out possible and go with it. The squad have the experience of winning the title which is great and that will get us through this road bump. Really the weekend defeat was a shock it took some great goals to beat us but the second team need to produce the goods when giving the chance. Jesus needs to get more goals. The fullbacks need better competition thats there.

Every manager has blind spots , and in fairness Pep doesn't get too much wrong unless you accept the opinions of BM experts ( when we don't win that is )

Strongest available team , no rotation or resting players for this game , KDB & Kun to start and Merlin if possible , need to win the next two games convincingly to and get ready to stuff the Scousers and trash their unbeaten record.
