Leicester (League Cup) - Post Match Thread.

According to the commentary they did review it and decided it wasn't a penalty or a free kick, presumably because it wasn't a "clear and obvious error".

VAR wont fix all ills. It is still down to someone else's judgement on whether they think its a foul, they just get more than one look at it. There will be instances where you see a replay and the VAR ref will give a different decision to what you think it should be.
Bet they back the Referee most times

No
The fact that Raheem with all the flack he gets still has the balls to attempt a penalty like that at least shows how strong he's become mentally, he'll be bulletproof before long.
Noticed Walker, Sterling and Delph were all having a good laugh about it after the game on the way over to the fans! Thankfully, it didn’t prove crucial!

Great to see the team spirit and pushing Muric to the front of the pack to get the applause. That kind of stuff is invaluable to a young player. Such respect from the old heads is very meaningful, especially for someone who very rarely plays. That lad is going to be a monster. Doubt we will be able to hold onto him, but the transfer fee should be a monster, too!

Thank fuck Jose was sacked today otherwise we wouldn't hear the end of the media vultures calling him arrogant. He'll learn. We'll move on supporting him as we always have done.
Why arrogant?

A Panenka penalty is just as valid as any other. Was Fuchs arrogant for believing he could put it in the top corner? How about Zinchenko? Was he lucky that his arrogance for blasting it into the top corner paid off?

When you take a penalty, you are either placing it or leathering it. If you leather it, you’re saying “Even if the keeper gets a touch, it won’t be enough to save it.” If you place it, you’re saying, “I’m going to put it out of the reach of the keeper, possibly even fooling him as to which side.” A Panenka is simply placing it high and up the middle, because you’re certain the keeper is going to dive and you don’t want his dragging legs to get a touch.

The only thing Sterling did wrong was hit it too hard, which lifted it too much.

And, yes, it takes balls because people think it takes greater nerve to trust the keeper isn’t going to recognize it, stand there, and make a simple catch...and that you’re going to use excellent technique to pull it off. Sadly, Sterling’s technique let him down.

Good for him for having the balls to try it, I say! Doubt he will be doing it again anytime soon.

Oh, and the goalie should get a yellow card for taunting in his face afterwards. Unsportsmanlike conduct all day long.

Has anybody found out the situation with programmes for this game? Couldn’t find anybody selling them when i got there which was around 7pm

'City didn't really play a weakened side,a few kids but still a very strong team,Leicester don't have that luxury' - Darren Gough

Fuck me,that bloke is a plank.

Do they want us to play our U15s before they call it a weakened side, or was Gough referring to a 'weekend' side? Eighteen year old at the heart of the team, teenager goalkeeper, teenager playing his first game for the first team, players out of their own chosen position, and KdB and Aguero coming back from substantial lay-offs. If the Ragamuffins put out a team comprising those elements they would be lauded and praised for giving youth a chance, rotating the squad, but still maintaining the integrity of the competition. Gough and his ilk are programmed to come out with this shit on a daily basis. It's just a pity that the programming bypassed any brain cells he might have!
