Leonardo Bonucci

Yes, I've also been thinking this presents a difficult decision for City.

Juventus want to keep Pogba, their biggest star, as a statement. Meanwhile Bonucci is 29 and his value will never be higher.

Bonucci just signed a new contract but could earn double the wages and may not have another opportunity to play elsewhere, never mind with Pep.

City are between a rock and a hard place. Close in on Bonucci and they keep Pogba, so Real's "gentleman's agreement" over Kroos goes out the window. Or, they could take a punt on Pogba ending up at the Bernabeu and Real honoring their agreement, but losing out on Bonucci.

The key for Txiki is finding a way to get both. If not, well, maybe go for Bonucci and pick up Thiago instead.

What is this gentlemans agreement you allude to?

It was reported that Ream Madrid had a gentleman's agreement that if they signed Pogba, then Kroos would be made available to City.

Unsure if it's a genuine report or speculation why City suddenly dropped out of the running for Pogba, but it's true it would increase our chances of getting Kroos if Real can afford him.

Either which way, Bonucci sounds more possible at the moment and City could do worse than prioritise him.

Just hope this isn't united with Ramos all over again and him wanting a bigger deal and using us.

Hope not though. Hope he badly wants to be here. Would be a great signing.
I agree, this stinks of a player at 29 trying to get a final pay day.

I don't see why it would be... The players that do that are typically linked with clubs that are in a slightly weaker position to the club they're currently at, such as The Ramos situation with Madrid and United. However i can only imagine the chance to play under Pep in the premier league on what would probably be considerably more money than he's currently on at Juve would be a genuinely very tempting proposition for Bonnuci. No reason to feel this is any sort of leverage tool from his agent to get a better deal with Juve. If he does stay, it's gonna be because he chose to do so, not because it was an inevitability.

Never heard that before.

The gentleman agreement was the bit from the sun, posted a couple of days ago

With this being the first transfer window of the Pep era I can see a lot of agents playing the my client wants to go to Manchester and play for Pep card just to get their client and ultimately themselves more money. I want Bonucci in a City kit just as bad as the next fan but there is so much going on at Juventus this summer that it will be hard to see them letting Bonucci walk away and sell Pogba in the same window. When Pep was at Barcelona and Bayern it was easy to see why players wanted to go there, they are two of the four highest profile clubs in the world. It might take a season or so to get into player's head's that Manchester City is the best club in the world from the owners to the manager to the fans, nowhere else compares and it is the place players want to be and they go to their club and agent and say get me to Manchester City.
