We replaced Bravo with Ederson
Nolito with Sterling
Mangala with Luis
Easy this isn’t it ?
we did replace Bravo with Ederson, it was a big improvement
Nolito and Mangala were never starters under Pep
Yea it is quite easy to see that current key first team players are a massive downgrade from the old ones
The biggest issue isn’t replacing Sane, think Torres will do that, think Dias will replace Kompany over the next year, and probably play more. Not David but think Foden will continue improving. How do you replace Kompany, Yaya, Silva etc without spending £300m plus? It’s virtually impossible nowadays and regardless of what we think, we are still not seen as one of the big clubs so why would the best players in the world want to come unless it’s for money?
In Sane’s eyes he has gone to a bigger club. It’s like when Tranny left the rags and went to Madrid. I’m sure they didn’t want to lose him either but they had no choice because he wanted to go. Sane wanted to go.
We have signed players who we hope will become the next Sane/Kompany etc but they might not. That’s the risk. If we want to sign players of De Bruyne’s stature then they will cost us £120m maybe more now. Have we got the money to do that?
Most of our signings over the last few years haven’t been great and Liverpool’s have been better, hence the reason why they are where they are. However most of theirs were reasonably priced and that’s what we need to find. It’s hard though as every club is looking at these players.
