Leroy Sane - 2018/2019 performances

Wasn't at the game last night so watched on tv - but the commentary team on the NBC stream stated that Pep was going mental at Leroy because he was not holding his position out wide - commentators saying Leroy was drifting inside more against Pep's wishes

Cant say I witnessed it as when it was mentioned they were referring to what was happening off-screen from the play
There were a few occasions when Pep yelled at him. The first being on an errant pass from Kyle Walker to Zinchencko. The ball went over Zinchencko who had moved into the Midfield like our Fullbacks do. The ball then trickled out for a throw in. Was all Walker's doing, but Pep turned his anger on Sane and yelled thay he should have been there. Suggesting had Sane been holding the line, he'd have been able to track back and reach the ball before it trickled out.

About 10 minutes later he was gesticulating again at Sane to stay outside. Then turned around and walked off perplexed back to his seat. Possibly to go whine to Arteta :)

This is his new thing now. Lol. Arteta must be like, yo dude, I can see it too. But I stopped playing a few years ago. Can't help you. Lol

He's going nowhere.

Yeah just heard his interview on Sky. I know he already said he was staying a week ago, but I'd be genuinely amazed if he left after hearing him then.

Also for someone who apparently struggled socially at the club in 16/17 because his English wasn't good, it's great now. I'm guessing that's thanks to the American girlfriend.

amyone got a link to that interview...cannt find it and i heard sky were really trying to trip him up

Sounds like he's going nowhere in his post match interview, think he loves being a part of this squad. Even listening to him in his interview, sounds like he really respects Pep as well. Reckon next year will be a big year for him.

This season he played 1867 minutes in the league
Last season he played 2423 minutes in the league and as you know won the young player award.

Hopefully next season he will play more and entertain us like he used to do.

There could be many factors with attitude and such, but I think that the absence of DeBruyne has had a big impact on Leroy not playing a lot as well. Of our midfielders Kev is the only one who can play through balls to him in transition which gives him the space to get behind the defence. Without Kev we are more forced to play at a slower tempo. We can keep the ball, but it allows the opposition to get back and organize their defence. So we have to break them down in a low block which favors wingers like Bernardo.
