Les Chapman Tribute

Think he's been training a lad or a couple of lads for a few years now as the couple who sit infront of me's nephew is one of them, seems a highly respected guy behind the scenes

Brendon and Ali

He mentions them in the interview Ali seems to be the one to take over he came from Blackburn in 2012 Brendon seems to have been overlooked for promotion :-)

He is 64, and looks good for it, but must be due for retirement.
I remember when Taggart reached 65, they could not force retirement cos it was not a PLC, so I suppose we are the same are we ?????? He does sound though like he is ready to go. Good luck to him. Had a great career . i went at 56 and would highly recommend it!!!!

Seems like such a genuinely nice man. thought the video was superb. informative and heart warming. I'm not sure i realised just what an amazing career he had and don't remember much of him as a player even though we are a smilar age.

Watched the whole thing and enjoyed every minute. Brilliant tribute to a great man. Laughed loads when he realised his Dad died at 64 and he is 64. Look on his face. I hope he's got his mam's longevity n'all. Looks like he has. You'd never think he was 64. Only 15 more players with more league appearances, now that's something to behold. I'm not sure he is ready for retirement yet though. He said stuff like "by the time I retire", "in time" (when talking about his two apprentices taking the reins), I think there's a few years left to savour Chappy. Hope so anyway.

I think its superb we have given him such recognition for what he has done. He is obviously a major part of our club and the players all appear to love him.

Me and Bgblue went his testimonial and the players who turned out for him that day proved how he is loved.

I thik this is maybe his last season with us and if so i wish him a happy retirement and i kow he will always be welcomed back at City by the staff, the players and all of us fans.

Top bloke who probably contributes far more to team/club morale than he is given credit for.

Hope he stays around for a while yet, however,we have ideal candidates to replace him in Kolarov or Garcia........

Although I've always been a City fan, my Grandad was a Latics fan and took each one of us (I'm from a big family) to Oldham for a couple of years as we were growing up. During my time, Les was playing for Oldham and he genuinely was a character. Bit of a Gazza of his time, but always was the player I wanted to watch

In the video, there's a lad with an afro who played for Oldham who died really young. Can't remember his name.

Young lad with afro was Alan Groves, great winger for that level of football. I also used to go to Oldham when City were away

Makes me laugh how some idiots on fb have seen the tribute page and posted messages like "RIP Chappy..." thinking he has died. Plonkers!
