Transfer fees between English clubs have to be settled within a short period a longer period when foreign clubs are involved So doubt that we owe for Lescott would expect that the Rodwell deal, like most, involves bonus payments

Where did you find 20 million?
All this is possible as much as it is not. Rodwell deal was done pretty fast and quiet, it looked like some relations were made between clubs, all went pretty smooth and friendly.
It could be that it was the part 1 of some chain of future deals, why not. Rodwell and Fellaini to us, Lescott and Sinclair (loan) to them + some money.. MSP approves that.

I think you have misread it, it says we still owe everton 8m for rodwell - we paid 10m and gave 2m up front so owe 8m - this 8m would be written off in exchange for lescott.
