Lescott

Talk on twitter that he could be joining Liverpool for £13m. Is this a joke or something?

Any talk of any player joining Liverpool should be regarded as a joke.

£13m is a huge fee for a 29 year old defender.

So unlikely it doesn't deserve our attention me thinks.

The only way I see Joleon leave us is if he himself wants out, but even then the price tag would be lot more than a mere £13mil, especially if Liverpool was the buyer.

Maybe it's a swap kind of thing: Lescott + £15m for Agger? If so I'd be listening.

I understand what you mean, but when we payed £22m for him, it was a massive amount but he has improved his game a lot so selling him for £13m would be stupid imo.

I like Agger, he's a very good defender but he has a ridiculous injury record. Struggles massively to play 30 league games a season

We overpaid at £22m due to the "acceleration" process. If they are seriously offering £13m, then I expect we would have to seriously consider it as we won't get another offer where we are able to show profits on the books.

hahaha
so after our 1st premier league trophy with the best defence in the league and lescott having a fantastic euro champs the manager is going to split them up???

Lescott took a load grief earlier in the season and last season which was totaly uncalled for and in my opinion was one of the players of the season.

13m.............liverpool.........dream on

Lescott doesn't rely on pace so the fact he's 29 isn't really that relevant, he'll still be as strong and as good in the air as he is now for the next 4-5 years at least. I wouldn't even consider offers of less than £30m.

No truth in this story whatsoever.

Is there any player from the squad who hasn't been rumoured to be leaving. How about Barry... Oh shit I forgot the press have scheduled that one for Thursday's back page.

I think it is very unlikely that Lescott will leave City this summer: he's clearly very happy at City and had a very good season for both City and England. He and Vinnie are a genuine CB partnership but they do need better back-up / competition for their places and already need to buy one top quality CB; if Lescott was to be sold, City would then need two new CB's and I'm sure Marwood & Co have better things to do with his time than try to replace JL.

This is because he only moved to us for the money, isn't it? He will finally get the fullfil his dream of joining a big club challenging for top honors!! His performances deserve it.

I love his character and he is an excellent header and good tackler. He has limitations with his control and passing. Against the likes of Stoke he is perfect.
IMO we need another CB with the defensive qualities of Lescott plus improved passing and control if we are to challenge in the CL.
It is true he has improved during the season and had a good Euros, however the "long ball from Hart tactics" for club and country are partly due to his lack of confidence to keep possession and build from the back.
Ideally we should keep him as a key part of the squad but IMO we need to keep on improving the side if we are to conquer Europe and with another world class CB we would be stronger.
