White paper released today.

I'll start with the buses. Seriously, how do they expect to have London-frequency services in the regions without the same number of passengers or without massive subsidy?

(No news yet on supporting bus services after the current Covid support grants stop in April and bus use is about 70% of pre-Covid levels.)

Just a bunch of recycled old promises that they failed to deliver repeatedly already, along with selling basic things that should already be in place as impressive improvements that we should be thankful for.

It hasn't been published yet so idiotic to comment?
Not really. Whatever "projects" they fund (in marginal constituencies?) will be small beer compared to the billions gutted from local council funding since 2010.

Anyway, it is well trailed. What we've not got yet is Gove telling us how transformative it will be.

Since 2010 more like. However we don't have any figures yet, and even when we do we won't know how it will be awarded, the bidding criteria etc. The large capital projects were never funded out of local authority mainstream budgets, they were always additional funding pots.

It isn't just about funding though there are reforms planned, however the devil is in the detail rather than leaked headlines.
