Levelling Up - more than a slogan or another Con con?

Seems that levelling-up has been scrapped. Do more for less.

"Now it is a priority to restore a smaller state - both financially and in taking a step back from people's lives."

When you read the paper it's written on, the levelling up document which I understand Michael Gove is responsible for producing, it's the biggest load of tripe I have read in my life.

It's full of aspirational nonsense, waffling away in it's delusion about how our country will become the most productive in the world, with all of us living years longer, town centres being invigorated, hundreds of thousands of kids every year taking training that will produce a generation enjoying highly paid jobs, and pride in the communities we live in that will reduce crime levels.

When Germany was unified, it cost trillions to try and equalise the differences between East and West, and that colossal amount of money still hasn't achieved full comparity.

After being in charge for nearly 12 years, and with the most deprived communities in Europe and the largest imbalance of wealth between regions in the whole continent, our government think they can produce a balanced economy with the whole country benefitting and untold prosperity for all of us, wherever we live.

Unfortunately, there isn't actually any funding for it.
