Those going to see Oasis to watch a vocal masterclass were always going to be disappointed. Liam has always had an awful vocal technique, but it was unique to him and sounded cool with the guitars behind him.

Most of what he sang last night sounded similar to his heyday, barring his inability to pitch notes in his head voice. That’ll be drowned out by the crowds on the tour and everybody there will no doubt love it.

Of course. 99% (at least) of the people at the gig will be fans. And fans are very forgiving as to any perceived shortcomings of their idols (footballers, pop/rock stars, actors etc etc). We all do it. Take City fans with Rodri.
