Liam Delap - Ipswich player 2024-25

I think it is a good move for Delap. [And the others who have moved recently].
The fact that EDS is now 21 years not 23 suggests we had too many players.
The younger lads playing in the EDS last year, Delap, McAtee, Palmer etc don't need more second team football, they need senior football. To assess their development and potential, the club need to see them in competitive action, so Championship football should give both City and the player the right game time and opportunity to take the next step.
Game time for these lads will be limited in the first team this year, and in theory playing against less experienced players in PL2 will not help them grow.
The PL/FA changed it from U23s to U21s for everybody, it wasn't a decision made by City. We didn't have any (or a couple at best) that were over 21 anyway. I suspect we were always going to have a clear out and sell or loan a few to allow the younger ones to step up a level.

Well received by the Stoke fans despite it not being his day.The experience will be invaluable and he will develop.

Unlike others I feel like this is a good loan for him. First he needs to compete with strikers within his own team and he needs to learn to become incredibly clinical with the few chances to make a difference. If we does well here he would have grown as lot when he comes back.

Even if this Stoke team is not ideal for him, it should not be an excuse. He as striker should create his chances out of nothing and if he can do it despite having terrible player around him then i can see it as successfull loan for him.
