Liam Delap signs new contract until 2026

With respect Liam Delap won't get much beyond 20 PL goals in his career.

He's a good lad but not an elite player.
Liam was one of the outstanding players in his age category before he had a couple of bad injuries. Liam’s pace has returned with a run without injuries. I hope that continues.

People who post things like Delap and Lavia were nothing special should have watched our Academy games a bit closer IMHO

He's brilliant. Not just a goalscorer, impressed by his physicality with defenders and his all-round awareness of teammates/ability to play passes. Reminds me of a young version of Kane and how he plays.

Doesn't make sense for him to come back here, though. It does from our perspective, but not from his. His ceiling is much higher than being a back-up to Haaland.

He's got 6 so far this season, I'd suspect he'll have 12-15 unless injured this season, will they stay up?

If they do he'll be over 20 next campaign. If not chances are a lower Prem club will snap him up.

I'm not for one moment suggesting he should be a starter for us, certainly not at the moment but, him coming on when we're 2/3 up with 30 mins to go (remember those days ;) ) would give our one proper forward a rest.

I'm really concerned that with all the minutes Erling is playing it's already debatable if he's knackered let alone what he'll be like by February or at the business end of the season.

He’d have got it if we weren’t brilliant and chasing titles and CLs.

Pearce would have called him a rough diamond and we’d have enjoyed seeing him develop.

We’re a different beast these days and Delap was never going to make it with us, barring an injury crisis whilst he was still with us.
If there had been an injury crisis whilst he was still with us then the odds would have been good that he'd had been one of the walking(hobbling) wounded. He's missed a lot of games for such a young lad.

I've seen hundreds of academy and Youth Cup games since 1962.

Seen 100s of world beaters at 15-18 but very few who developed to the level that City are now at.

Good players, good lads, good careers but not elite.

How many can you name ??

Liam Delap and Romeo Lava. Phil Foden and Cole Palmer. They are the best I’ve seen in the modern era.

Well, he has 6 in 12 games, so if Ipswich are relegated I am sure another PL team will snap him up.

Not much over 20 PL goals is a rather odd thing to say tbh, with respect, of course.

Oh and plenty of non elite players have scored lots of PL goals.

Danny Wellbeck has 73
