Having a chat at work and I said I can remember when the linesman ran the full line not just one half.
now I can not find it anywhere so come on help me out or was I dreaming and this did not happen

In pro footy the linesmen only did one half, cos the ref was meant to run a 'diagonal' and would cover the other half. They only cover one half so they have a better chance of flagging an offside. If they had gone down to the other corner and the ball gets booted into the other half they'd be stranded!

This is what was said Dave but if this did happen it was a long time ago I would only have been a kid so you would be talking the 60s

Spoke with one of my colleagues who qualified in 1960. Said they have never ran the full length of the pitch.

However, i have mentioned Jamie the rag i work with before. He came out with a classic again yesterday. Bear in mind he is in his mid 30s and says he has always been a football fan. After Slur Alex comments about the assistant ref not giving a penalty at the weekend he said could the other assistant not have given it as he might have had a better view. When i said that he would be at the other end of the pitch he said that he thought the assistants always patrolled the full length of the pitch. DOH
