Get out of his wardrobe, that’s just weird.Jorge has checked into a hotel and is currently asleep. The meeting will likely take place tomorrow.

From a financial perspective, allocating/issuing equity to Messi as a payment is quite innovative (not entirely a new concept mind) in football.
for city, it would be like paying/issuing Messi with ‘x’ amount in equity which would be his investment in city (have a shareholding).
from a cash flow perspective, rather than have an outgoing in expenses (P&L), City use this as additional investment (carry it on the balance sheet) and generate further revenue (a given with the exposure messi provides).
higher revenue increases the value of the shares growing both messi’s investment and other shareholders.
trying to compare this as a transaction and it would be something like an acquisition by city of a revenue generating entity. Whereby city’s acquisition is more an investment in themselves to further enhance their revenue generation capacity.
In financial world, acquisition/merger of CYBG and Virgin money comes to mind in the last couple of years.
I think from a financial perspective, this is not going to cause any issues with ffp unless of course ffp is revised to address this (using cas verdict as an excuse to revise the rules).
Even then, It would be a case of Uefa cutting off the nose to spite the face by isolating city with Messi in their team and their commercial appeal at least on the short term.
He certainly has the authority to do both but I don’t think he will. He will just tell them to agree a fee with City or receive nothing and see him in court due to the break clause. (IMO of course)So he could sign an improved contract in Barca or leave the meeting in a huff fly to Manchester and sign for us?
quoting this to ensure more people read it.
You can see now where Manchester City were going with the City Football Group and why Silverlake Investments got onboard. Barcelona are global but not in quite the same way as City football group with a football club in most continents including the MSL. Messi and a global football group would be an ideal fit.
There are 1.4 billion people in China. They love Messi. And City have a Chinese equity partner. We don't know what exactly is coming should City sign Messi, but expect massive investment and sponsorship from China and Japan incidentally where City have football clubs.
The football writers scoffed at City. Some of their methodist writers thought it was about soft-power. It wasn't it was about commercial opportunity and participating in the greatest sport on the planer. Everyone loves football. And Manchester City can go global like no other club. City's equity structure is split 3 ways: Sino-Arab-US. Looks obvious now where the Manchester City takeover was heading. Some focused on soft-power but they got it wrong. Football is a business opportunity for those with the commercial and political connections to pull it off. This will be an interesting back-drop to the football where Manchester City could take centre-stage.
Don’t think it will be that quick mate. Expect this meeting will be more posturing got a week or so left of this imoWell his dad is mow in Barcelona...so it is crunch time.
How we all feeling ?
As we should really know by end of play tonight as to what his decision is
Oh I don’t know, those of us that went through the dark days......... suppose Messi is another step towards the fan pay back by the club ;)My dad enrolled me in the Junior blues in December 1989, I don’t think that qualifies me for a CFG shares offering like Lionel.
Pure coincidence.Imagine that....we are linked with Messi who apparently approached us and only wants to play for us and in the space of a few days we have had Pep, Lillo, Ferran, Txiki, Jorge and Messi himself all in the same City.
