Liverpool (A) Post Match Thread

It’s a nice psychological blow that after their best start they are third, we now have KDB and having expected to be 3 points ahead they are level with a worse goal diff. Nice!

RAWK convincing themselves we were scared of them and so Pep with his billion pound squad set up to NOT lose the game. Nothing at all about Klopp's inability to find a way against the tactical changes.

If we were scared they were toothless and ran out of ideas and looked very vulnerable towards the end.

In that case, they absolutely shat themselves in almost every away game they played on their way to their 5 European Cups.

Great to see we have the ability to switch our tactics to counter individual teams strengths or weaknesses.
When the defence against our attack is to fill their half of the field then rely on fast breakaways I often wondered what would happen if City did the same.

I was worried a couple of weeks ago that if they beat Chelsea and then us, we'd be 5 points behind them. That wouldn't have been fatal at this early stage but I still didn't want it as we'd need a 10-point swing to re-establish a decent lead. But after those two games we're ahead on goal difference and I'm much more relaxed. Plus us and Napoli have shown other teams how to contain them.

They didn't lose that many last season but they had 12 draws. They also dropped 16 points in their games against the other top 6 teams. They've dropped 4 already in the equivalent games this season and this game was one of the two they won last season. I think I'm more worried about Chelsea at the moment.

RAWK is hilarious reading. The prematch thread is full of people predicting they'll smash us, and then the same folk appear post-match to say "Why are people complaining, we marked them out of the game, the mighty City who smash everyone couldn't score against us".

Someone will say we were the better side and get 25 angry replies as to why they're wrong.

I know I had a go at Marhez for which I’m sorry.

But I think the most reactions were just an unfortunate consequence of being the guy who missed a penalty in a high stakes game, to end a streak that’s been going of for years, and would have been deserved.

However we need to back our players. I fucking dread the day city fans turn on a player like the scouse did to Karius. Even the players didn’t console him. Mahrez is one of us, for as long as he wears the shirt.

You'd think so, but even their defence is hopeless this season 14 conceded already. last season they only conceded 28 just 1 more than us.

I reckon it's more a case of DeGea is no longer working miracles, their defence was poor last year too.

I think Pep should seriously consider getting Ederson to take penalties, not least because the experience might help him save them when called upon. He is a fine striker of a football and seems to have plenty of confidence.

Who’s in net for the inevitable rebound off the post
