Yesterday's result for the rags changes things and im not sure how we react.

Had they held on fir the win we would have had to go to Anfield for the win, as it is now a draw wouldn't be the worst result.

However a win changes the league in a big way, not only putting a 10 point gap between us and the dippers but also increasing the lead over the rags.

I think Pep will keep it tight in the first 30 minutes and feel his way into the game before pushing for the win.

Momentum is key going forward.

if Scotland can beat England at Twickenham for the first time since 1983, we can do similar at Anfield. We just need to replicate their controlled aggression. If Carlsberg did weekends........
Likewise, if Scotland can outplay England at Twickenham then Liverpool can beat Man City at Anfield. We need to be on our guard and avoid complacency.

Foden must start and that’s why he was rested today-he can skin either of their full backs. I wonder if he goes for false 9 and drops Jesus to the bench.
I hope not, we need the pressing Jesus does to keep their defence honest, he works his bollocks off like Bernardo and we need that commitment today ..

Ps, I know, scousers and honest :-))

What worries me with that line up, is Salad vs Laporte. Aymeric is not a fast player, and Liverpool will absolutely take advantage of that with their quick counter attacks.

So, Kyle on the right and Cancelo on the left would make me feel a bit more assured.

I think yesterday’s result eases the pressure on us, which I think will work to our advantage. Hopefully the players will be more relaxed and able to play their usual game with less fear or tension. Today is almost a free hit now, in the sense that a defeat wouldn’t be that damaging to our title hopes.

I’m so fucking nervous now. I honestly think if we win today they might as well put the blue ribbons on our trophy. I really think the title race is dead if we win. It’s always the hope that kills you. Please City, please.
I'm not that optimistic that today will decide anything, as the Rags and LiVAR will continue to drop points later in the season regardless of the result. I will join you in saying this though; it'll be a more relaxed February, :)

No crowd, no buses to smash up, no dancing on cop cars.
The last time I can remember beating the Dippers was an Anelka goal,
in 2003, it's now time to break this record.
And if we do, I can't wait to see the kipper on the bloke who's had a baby
grand piano fitted into his gob.
I still reckon the coach will be targeted today their feral fans won’t be able to resist. And we all know the Merseyside police will turn a blind eye

As long as we win the title, it doesn't really matter whether we finish 1 point (season 18/19) or 25 pts (season 17/18) above them. It's likely that in April/May we will play in other competitions too. So the PL title is enough, whether on 78 or 98 pts.

The United result means we are not under pressure to win today. Which hopefully means we are going to win.

I'm sure Pep would be blamed if we failed to win for many seem to perceive Liverpool as poor now. But they'll likely be close to full strength apart from VVD, and it's football, nothing is certain. No tactics guarantees success over a single game. Luck and other things play their role. Let's see what happens.
Nope not for me, I want to see us grind the bus brickers noses right in it, plus if we do win the league then the more points we are ahead the sooner we win it, and can then put more focus on the other trophies. So there is a huge benefit in being 25 points ahead rather than 1 point ahead

Think this is from the embargoed part of the pre-match press conference. First question is - will there be an asterisk on who ever wins the title ? I remember previously there was discussion of how great it is to be champions this year as teams have struggled more than in a normal season due to Covid. Now, that City are likely to win it, the narrative has to change.

oh jon, no covid last season? Lol

Kyle Walker is fast but he still got torn to shreds by Mane in the first 45 minutes at the Etihad. Good defenders don't need pace to do a number on their opponent its all about being in the right place at the right time and making the correct decisions something which Laporte is incredibly good at.
If I remember correctly Fatty Shaw had Salah in his pocket a few weeks ago at Anfield he was close to eating him :)

We cannot lose today no matter what, I want Pep go for the win if Liverpool will be there for taking but if they raise their game which is likely, then a draw is not too bad for us.

We need to make sure we dont lose any of the remaining Pool, United, Leicester games.

On the other hand if we could deliver 3 points today that would give us a boost imo for a quite hard fixture list in February given us more belief and momentum.

I just hope when we will have good chances today we put it on target at least, not shoot into defenders, miss target etc.

Absolutely.
Win : great result
Draw : acceptable
Lose : minor setback
