Unlike many, Liverpool worries me. I don't care about their form. They have a style that bothers us. Even when they weren't too 2 good, they still bothered us.

I want and hope for a win. But I am not confident of it. Liverpool are better against teams who play them straight up. We will play them straight up. Which means this would be harder than it was for Burnley and Brighton.

We don't lose to them when Bernie is in midfield.

If Mane is out their only real tactic is the long ball to Salah on the right. If Mane plays add the left to that too. We don't need to win this game so I would frustrate them and try and break on them.
Agreed, I'd be more confident without Mane as the drop off from him (especially with Jota injured) is huge.

But I doubt we'd sit back and frustrate them. I expect us to try to do what we normally do. Possess the ball and find a way to break them down. They'll sit and try to counter us.

Completely understand your nervousness Dax, but there is a fundamental ability difference between us and those 2 teams. Tricky but far from impossible. If we play as well as we have been and Liverpool play as they did v spurs and West Ham its potentially a close game but we are still significantly better
I hear you but outside of last season when we were without Laporte, there had always been a fundamental gap in talent btw is and them... Yet they are the only team in the Pep era we haven't manhandled in any game (I discount the 5-0 game coz of the red). But with 11 on the field, they are the only team who have consistently found a way either better us or make it look close even when we win.

With everyone else, even when we lose to say Spurs, Chelsea, Arsenal or United, its often clear we were way better but grossly unlucky.

Liverpool is the one team (especially at Anfield) we've never looked dominantly superior but unlucky against.

Hence why I am not as confident as many.

I think the 4 0 last season we owned them, but apparently they had been celebrating so it doesn’t count (unlike our holidays, which apparently do count)

Last chance saloon for the Dippers , i expect them to come out of the blocks and playing aggressively , long balls over the top of our back four , if we stop them scoring for the first thirty minutes and put their fire out and we will then dominate the game ,
They can't "unleash" their crowd on us , their coach attack will be restricted by the ever observant Murkyside Police , and Klippety looks more wound up than a clockwork mouse , hope Pep will be wearing his flip flops , Ray Bans and sunhat after half time smoking a fat one and blowing smoke in Klippety's direction in celebration of our two month break.

To distract me until the team sheets arrive I am preparing mushroom & mozzarella arancini, with buttered boiled potatoes and a fresh basil infused alioli. It's snowing, Leonard Cohen is playing I'm feeling calm and collected.
