A draw would boost confidence
It would probably reduce Liverpools lead to 7 points which may put additional pressure on them coming up to the Xmas period
Why would a draw reduce their lead to 7 points, you do know that they would get a point for a draw as well.

draw would be great. keep it 8 points, others likely overtaking us like chelsea and arse, but that means they keep an eye on dippers too. letting dippers to run away with it like in covid season is the worst outcome. as another loss and its 11 points, and added extension to our horrible run which aint helping mentality wise right now.

getting a draw and beating Forest at home who knows it might be down to 6 points. lose to dippers and I can see Forest getting a draw at Etihad too then current 8 points becomes a 13p gap.

I think play this similar to the 0-0 a few years back when Laporte played left back and Mahrez missed the last minute penalty to win it....that game proved that Pep can be pragmatic and hopefully he can set us up in a similar way Sunday....having Dias back in the heart of the defence would help massively
I think we'll get beat up in midfield then meekly surrender after they score.

We have missed Dias a lot, for his leadership qualities.
This will be a "back to the walls" job on Sunday.
Give him the captain's armbands for this match (even if Walker is selected) as we need a strong, vociferous leader to galvanise the team...

Not over us.
We would still be 8 points behind but I am certain at least one of Chelsea Brighton or arsenal will win their game at the weekend and that would bring their lead over the rest of the league to 7 points

I'll take a guess at a narrow defeat with much improved performance.

I think it's an opportunity to give Ortega a run and I would revert to the 'false 9' and deploy as many ball players as we can field.

Bernardo will need to be deployed centrally as he is the only one that has seemingly been able to compete with them in the middle of the park.

Odds are stacked against us, a really good opportunity build from the back and re-gain our confidence in possession.

Come on blues, been in far worse positions than this - let's be having you............. :-)

since the takeover there were so many times we were in otherwise good form even under Mancini, Pelle and Pep and we went there in rather good form or middle of a good run and shit the bad and were outrun, outfought or they were there for taking but we underperformed to make it count.
to go there after our worst set of results since the Pearce era with third of the squad injured or about 40% fit, the rest looking too tired and way out of form, in the meantime dippers look like flying high with Salah in his best ever form scoring-assisting every game almost.

hard to see us not losing this by at least 2-3 goals and open up the gap to 11 points after 13 rounds. could say this is down to recruitment only, but Slot took over the squad from Klopp added only Chiesa who has yet to play 45 minutes imo, and getting a big tune out of them despite lack of proper recruitment this summer at their side. Pep certainly needs to get more out of current squad than this. but if dippers spent last few windows not getting Mcallisster, Konate, Szoboszlai, Diaz but more of the Nunez type transfers flops, they wouldnt not be here now.
Slot has hit the ground running and doing a very good job, but take Salah, Diaz, Mac Allister, Van DIck and Konate out of that team and see how they get on. Thats where we are right now.

Even with admittedly crap or non existant recruiting, if we didnt have all the injuries we'd be much better

Tbh mate, it sounds like you're the one who has thrown in the towel.

People on here need to get behind the team.

We're having a bad patch and we're still second.

Sorry for not wanting to reward incredibly poor form from someone, how silly of me

wish I was, nah not really otherwise I wouldn't have a job or any money. This is the worst I've felt for a long time going into a game
Plus you would would smell bad and be heavily involved in weird cult behaviour. Would’nt want to wish that on anyone.

Was fuming last night but today I just feel like I want to get behind the lads. There has been a massive collective implosion of confidence and self belief and a form of mass panic that keeps spiralling the more any player makes a single mistake…We all know how brilliant these players are actually capable of being. It’s why I can’t join in with the relentless bashing of players that has gone on the last 24 hours, that’s even included players who were fine last night! I don’t believe any of them are taking any joy from what’s going on right now. I also don’t believe that any of them don’t care or don’t want to apply themselves.

A loss of confidence professionally can completely hinder your ability to do anything or function at all. It’s happened to me once or twice in shit jobs that were going wrong to the point where once I couldn’t even string a bloody email together (writing is the biggest part of my job) and I had to take a fortnight’s break for my mental sanity.

And what’s best in these situations? Not just proper leadership but a boss that can put their arm around you and provide encouragement. That will be Pep’s job the next few days. Yes, he needs to sort that bloody high line out and one or two players actually do need a rest now, but it’s at least 90% mental for me (the other 10% being fitness as quite a few who have come back from injury aren’t up to speed yet).

I’d like Kev to start this one. And Grealish. and Ake. Also Bernardo because he absolutely loathes them. Nunes as well because he’s in good form. Gvardiol I think needs a break. The dream would be to have Dias back but it’s looking unlikely.

Without Rodri it seems out defensive line is even higher this season to close down the gap he leaves! However this has cost us so many times and I’m very worried it will cost us again Sunday, Liverpool do it against us even with Rodri in the team. the diagonal long balls out to Diaz and Salah. We need to drop at least 10 yards on Sunday or else we could well be in for a cricket score. But unfortunately we all know pep won’t do this and he will rely on Walker to somehow find his pace again.
