Liverpool FA Cup s/f (N) | Post Match Thread

Feel sorry for Steffen, goal was his fault. Should have got rid. But really, shouldn’t have been in that position.

Can’t play the usual game without Ederson. It didn’t or doesn’t work. No slant on Steffen, he can’t help that he’s not Eddie… that’s up to Pep to figure out. I’m sure he will.

Ake was class again. Really like the guy. Sterling had a poor game and probably should have been hooked earlier.

Gabbys miss/save was frustrating!

What is plainly obvious to me is that the three most important players in the squad and team are Walker, Rodri and Ederson. I don’t mean the best (I mean they’re not shite either ;)) but the most important due to how we play.

Wasn’t a fan of the booing the minutes silence. But where I was sat people were clapping, so I think there was a bit of confusion over that.
Still no excuse. Football is football. And surely we’re better than Leeds fans? That’s the sort of shit they do.

When we lose these types of games it’s always the belief that the selected side was wrong from the off, lost before we’ve even kicked a ball.
this opinion has been right in the past but today the players (not all) were part of the problem, Zak was frankly awful as we witnessed but the effort from some was shocking, yes it improved but it was to late. Wasteful in attack and ponderous in build up.
If we hadn’t had the game in the lions den on Wednesday the team would of looked completely different as would the result.
Not sure what more Pep could of done. Too late for the subs to really impact, but if Jesus had scored with 20 to go, I’m sure we’d of gone at them. Once missed his chance, the game looked gone and I defo wouldn’t of risked anyone.
Not on pep this one for me, but I’m glad we sowed a seed of doubt that even with 7 out we were no walkover, a doubt I hope will be in the minds of them all should we meet again this season.

If it's any consolation, Klopp's complaining about having to play at 4.30pm the weekend before their Villareal game.
Klopp is always complaining about anything - the length of a blade of grass, a ref giving a throw-in to the opposition, time of kick-offs. He's a shithouse, admirably suited to the team he manages.

He’ll be in pre-season training with the first team. Haaland is 21.

Every year we have a load of people training with the first team who we don't intend to use during the actual season (Bruno Zuculini, Jack Harrison, Douglas Luiz), or at least we did before Covid made that a bad idea. Personally I'm still in the camp of assuming we're not too keen and he'll have to really fight to win Pep over like Zinchenko did. So far Oleks is a very rare case of a player actually going out on loan and us not selling him but I can't imagine our board thought for a second that that would happen.

Feel he could have played Eddie this one time and promised Steffan the final. Also Dias with Ake at L.B would have prevented 2 of the goals and given us some leadership on the pitch.
This is Pep's greatest challenge coming up I feel, I'd love to see him silence the scousers and their media acolytes....we'll see....

You and a few others may not but he is the current South American Player of the Year and has won Argentina the last SA Championship, being Argentina's best player (yes better than hin).
He's the real deal.

We don't generally operate under a 100% logic policy when it comes to players. Once a player is out on loan we tend to stop giving a shit about anything other than how much money they can make us, and there has only really ever been one exception- Zinchenko- who's a rare case, though I certainly wish we had more players of his mentality.

That includes bringing on subs.

But bringing on Mahrez and letting Sterling take a free kick - we did have a bit of a death wish yesterday, didn't we?
The Mahrez role was to fool them by running over the ball, the fact that it took about 4 seconds for Raheem to hit it was ALMOST comical

He also build Liverpool up from outside the top 4.

There's a limit to how much credit I can give a guy for taking one of the biggest teams in the world and taking them back to one of the four best in the country. Being the first competent manager they had in ages isn't automatically deserving of praise.
