Sorry lads, not trying to be a smart arse, but there's a world of difference between us wanting long term financial stability and to compete at the top end of the market, and spending upwards of 130 million quid on one player and paying him 250 grand a week.

I've had a soft spot for City in the past, and don't begrudge you your money and shot at breaking into the top 4, especially if you become top dogs in Manchester, but surely you can see the detrimental effect this kind of obscene spending will have on the game as a whole, especially as you'll eventually end up paying through the nose for it.
Every one is out of the WOODWORK NOW .& YOU LOT HAVE NOT SPENT VAST SOMES IN THE PAST HAVE YOU NOT?GOOD BYEE

this should actually work in your favour,if we can start competing with the scum and rent boys, should make it easier for you to have a tilt at winning the prem

Hopefully. I'm probably just thinking from a selfish point of view, but I can only see fees and wages going through the roof, much like they did post Abramovich, and any half decent player will be out of our price range now that selling clubs have another mega rich bargaining tool.

What you say, mate, is all very lame.
"Wages going through the roof"....that happened 10 years ago and the world hasn't imploded.
"Any half decent player being out of your price range" - Not at all...City are in a league of their own at the minute, financially so the only club that will have to pay through the nose for new players is City. Besides, you have the history and kudos to still attract great players.

You talk about it being "plaything" - give me an ounce of evidence to back this up or have you been reading the tabloids too much?

Come off it pal, you've not given this a lot of thought have you?

Its alright dipper, we wont go after your little girl of a striker. You know we could have him if we wanted though. thats why your shitting your pants and posting on this forum.

The scousers make me piss. Daft twats. If I remember rightly, they didn't want Shinwatra to buy their club, but if they would have allowed him to, then perhaps now they would be owned by ADUG instead of us. Now it's a fucking shame that didn't happen isn't it, as they would probably be the ones looking at Kaka themselves, and that would probably be just enough for them to win the Prem. I think our new friend that posted this fucking garbage is all too aware of this and it is what has fuelled the jealous bollocks he is spouting. You can guarantee that if they were spending 100 million on 1 player, they would use the excuse that it is neccasary to compete with the other top 3 clubs, but City doing it is being iresponsible. Jealosy is one of the most unattractive traits in a person.

Perhaps the militant twats in Micky Mouse land will think more carefully if someone wants to buy them in future, because they have missed out on the chance of a premiership title or 10 and a new stadium that could rival any in the world. I PMSL at the stupid twats. Go and get yourself into your new shared stadium and hope that others slip up a bit, so you may just scrape a prem title. We will see you in a few years, when we a slapping your arse with the worlds greatest football players.

Oh and by the way, you may be right, perhaps prices for players will go up. But why would we give a flying fuck, our owners are fucking loaded mate. It's tough shite for you and the other lot though isn't it, as the top 4 have always had more money than the rest of us, and now you know what it is like to always take the second best players, like we all have for the last 30 years. It stings a bit eh? Anyway, commiserations, I will send you a bunch of flowers if you want.

You need to speak to an economist about about how the flow of money works and get them to explain it to you. Also while your at it get them to explain to you how the restriction of the flow of money caused the great depression of the 1920. Because the reality is with the current dyer financial situation football is in ADUG are actually single handedly saving football, in fact with all the money the UAE (were ADUG is from) are pumping into the worlds economy there actually trying to help stimulate the worlds economy.

I can see your point to some extent. This would have a negative impact on other clubs in normal times. However it isn;t normal times due to the credit crunch,All other clubs can;t compete so there would IMO be a sort of enforced self regulation. So what does it mean?Well it means loads of money sat in accounts of very wealthy people flooding the football industry via us [CITY].Surely it can only be good for football and will filter through to lower league sides.Infact I;ll go as far to say that it could save football in these times.I understand your concerns, but these may have been inflated by the masiveley biast negative input by the media. They themselves won;t see the positives that way as the thought of loosing The Rags,Chelskie,Arsenal as the top clubs is freightning to them.A lot of the media is London based and those 3 clubs are also[sort of].ps hope you win the league this year....

No I can't - please explain how it would be detrimental, as none of you jealous fookers have been able to answer so far.

Sorry but that's garbage, you bought the best players in the country for fuckin years.
How much for a Dalglish,Barnes, etc these days.
The Moores Family - Liverpool - £1,160m that's from before he sold out to the Yanks, long term stability my arse.
I haven't got a problem with Liverpool but if what you say is typical of what scousers think then you are hypocrites.
Dominic Fifield The Guardian, Monday 4 December 2006 Article historyLiverpool are on the verge of a new era after the chairman and majority shareholder, David Moores, granted Dubai International Capital permission to undertake due diligence in anticipation of a £450m takeover of the Anfield club.

Moores and his chief executive, Rick Parry, have granted DIC, a company owned by Dubai's ruling Maktoum family, the exclusive right to study the club's books despite rival propositions drawn up by, among others, the US businessman George Gillett Jr - formerly owner of the Harlem Globetrotters - and the Belfast-based construction tycoon John Miskelly.

Although the finer details of any deal with DIC will only become clear once due diligence has been carried out, it is understood that Moores has agreed to drop his initial valuation of the club to about £170m. That will see him accept about £4,500 a share - rather than £6,000 - with his majority 51% stake to be diluted.

The Moores family has been involved with Liverpool since the 1950s and, rather than sever ties completely, Liverpool's chairman of 15 years is expected to be given an honorary role under the new regime. Parry may remain as chief executive, particularly given his heavy involvement in attempting to move the club to a new stadium in Stanley Park. Neither chairman nor chief executive will be on the flight to Istanbul today for the Champions League tie against Galatasaray.

No formal announcement of a takeover is anticipated before Christmas but Liverpool's three-year search for new money appears to be drawing to a successful conclusion. In that time they have courted potential investment from parties as diverse as the Kraft family and Thaksin Shinawatra, the former prime minister of Thailand.

DIC's chief executive, Samir al-Ansari, claims to be a supporter of the club but the company, although it has independent status, is ultimately owned by the Maktoums. They are willing to fund the £200m construction of a 60,000-seat stadium and will cover the club's long-term debts - about £80m - but it remains to be seen whether Rafael Benítez will benefit in the January transfer market.
Unlucky.

On Stony (Philip Hennessy) post.

Well argued Philip. I would add, that not even a blink when Ronaldo wrote off his ferrari, how much money was that £200k. The great fear is that this dominance threatens the Sky monopoly, and cosy top 4 who are buddied up to Sky, as is the FA. The rest knows what it means, a new order and they fear this, hence the why would Kaka play for a team like City comments.

They may get used to it and "Arab guy" is just a disrepectful RACIST comment, I hope the FA take action to STAMP OUT RACISM, that is action not words.

Good article, well thought through and presented.

Does no-one else understand that all this money is staying within the game, AC will be able to spend where they like, then those clubs benefit. The money is an investment in a game and a business, and all funds will stay within the game as it will be spent somewhere down the line and distributed between the selling clubs, hence making them all richer!!

if your in a decent job you get a car on finance.......if your a millionaire you buy a ferrari.........if your a multibillionaire you buy a football club and pump a shit load of money into it.

my point being everything is in proportion, bacon face and wenger think its bad for the game.....yes correct, from their point of view because they dont have the money.

every fucker has had a dig at us this week, but i cant wait for the day where i can stick 2 fingers up at them, and that day is coming sooner than they think.
