Late here but this was huge no doubt a defeat and it could have been seen as pretty much over. 4 point gap and it’s neck and neck again. Got to think Liverpool drop points elsewhere but no longer can we afford to drop any points to the teams we shouldn’t.

I didn't, and having just seen it again a couple of times, I still don't, its an opinion anyone is entitled to have, and its not "ridiculous".
Virtually all calls are subjective.

And you're entitled to think that Vinny's challenge was not card-worthy.

Yet, I can't help but feel that your assessment is biased - let's say that VVD charged into Sergio Aguero at full speed - leaped into the air - and then, studs up, one foot extended, managed to win the ball, as Aguero leaped out of the way of a possibly career-ending challenge.

Excessive force? No card? Yellow? Red?

I think that the Yellow against Vinny was the correct call - and as the NBC pundits stated - it was very close to a Red.

Why was it a near Red? And why for me was it a clear Yellow? Because I do not want this sort of tackle occurring. I want to discourage challenges that might well result in serious injury to opponents - whether or not the ball is won.

Clearly Vinny won the ball - the question now is, do you think that Vinny might have seriously injured Salah?
===
Edit - and regardless of my preferences - it's the rules of the game that apply - and the rules of the game mandate a card for overly aggressive challenges - possibly causing injury to an opponent.

That clearance from Stones was nearly a goal, but the simple fact is, it wasnt. I thought the tackle on Aguero was far worse and Sterling should have had a penalty. We didn't get them and fortunately Taylor made the correct decision with Vinnies tackle.

Are you quoting the proper post?
