Finally bumped into my only Liverpool supporting mate, who had kept a very low profile since Saturday.
During some light-hearted banter about the game (haahahah) I pointed out to him how similar they are to the rags.
‘What do you mean’? He enquired.
I pointed out that they both rely on one world class player each, they both have high-profile rent-a-quote media darling managers, they both have fans who bang on tirelessy about ‘istreee’ they both got to cup finals this year, and both have nothing to show for it.
After a moment he blindsided me with a response you couldn’t have predicted.......
‘Wait till next season’

He knows what he's doing, he plays to the gallery all the time. The more the fans idolise him, and think he's one of them, the more difficult it is to sack him. It hides his consistent bottle jobs in finals, limited playing style and consistency problems in the league. Dipper fans think he's a world beater, he's hit the bullseye of their fan culture.

We need to lay this Anfield hoodoo to rest good and proper next and batter the scouse w@nkers. Got a feeling the players will be well up for beating the Dippers next season.

It is kind of copying Adam Buxton's shtick but it was never that original anyway as much as I enjoy his stuff.
