At the end of the day clubs that spend the most, usually win the most, if it’s spent wisely and the players well managed. Not sure why Liverpool fans would crow about net spend.
Pretty much.

If a club is spending a ton of money and results aren't good - the manager is fired along with the director of football and other high-ranking management; eventually high spending clubs hire management talented enough to produce winning sides.
===
I will say this though - Pep rarely pursues high profile, extremely expensive players - instead, his instinct is to seek out undervalued talent. More often than not, under Pep, we purchase talented players at bargain prices.

I think that’s the only sustainable way.

It’s not just about spending the most it’s also about keeping your best players the dippers don’t know how to do that

Really don’t understand the whole net spend argument, it’s just an excuse for failure which Liverpool are well accustomed to. It’s like arsenal fans bragging about having cash in the bank, no one cares and makes it all the funnier when you fail year after year.

We spend what we want on the basis of a sound financial model now, net spend doesn’t come into it other than the overall impact to our accounts, of which transfers are just one part.

The scouse narrative for the coming season (which means it's the media narrative) is that we can be "got at" just like Liverpool did last season. So we're going to be "got at" by more clubs, which means we'll get less points, 85-90, which narrows the gap between us and the dippers to around 10 points based on last season. Liverpool have strengthened and a 10 point gap can be closed...Hey Presto!...It's their year!

A dipper work colleague of mine who I have been with today, is convinced that it's still the coutinho money !!! I thought they got 140 million for him not 140 billion !! If we lose overnight he is gonna be a nightmare tmrw . But it goes to show that an intelligent guy who is a well rounded football fan can be taken in by the propaganda that is put out about spending in football . As far as he is concerned. City are just a filthy oil rich club that can buy who they want and at any cost , he doesn't understand that we have to abide by the same rules as everybody else .
So today we established that this season he doesn't want to hear about "buying the league" or " American sugar daddies" As Liverpool are doing it the correct way ie. Using their own money raised by buying and selling players and genuine cash flows and not being funded by petrodollars, and Herr Klopp is not a hypocrite in any shape or form he was obviously misquoted when he gave that statement .
BUT he did concede that this is a shit or bust season for the dippers and that something has to be won, and if not then they are going to find it very difficult to compete in the future , the only thing he said all day I agreed with !!!
