Fuck me so it's next year then...........

Haha, great minds.

I know, how long will this twat get before he HAS to win something? Fucking hell Pep was a failure according to everyone after one unsuccessful season with the oldest squad in the prem!!
For a so called 'Big' club, with apparently one of the worlds best managers, to win absolutely jack shit in three years
would mean a boot through the door at most clubs. What compounds the problem is constantly getting to finals,
then bottling each one, the pent up excitement and anticipation smashed to bits by yet another kick in the cobblers.
Klopp really has to win some sort of trophy this year after this latest investment, next year's no good, the piss taking
'Next year is our year La,' which fans of every other team in the country now use regularly, will really start to ramp up
and the shame and embarrassment will kill them.

With the players they have bought I would be surprised if they weren’t up there

That said, they never learn. Everyone is entitled to get excited by their teams hopes at the start of the season but they just don’t shut up. Klopp playing to the gallery, thier fans and players(current and ex) all banging on etc

They should let the football do the talking. If they get a couple of dodgy results I.e a few draws in the first month or so, they won’t know what to do with themselves. The fans will start lashing out and Klopp could be out the door

He won’t be out of the door as long as they finish top four imo. He’s ostensibly bought into the narrative around the club enough to garner himself enough credit for that to be the case. As you say, he’s played to the gallery with great aplomb.

All this bravado from supporters goes hand-in-hand with the expectation levels from them and the media alike, and is partly deployed by their fans to mask a real mental brittleness around the club that has increasingly been there since they beat West Ham in the FA Cup Final in 2006. They’ve subsequently become serial bottlers (in two title races and numerous cup finals). Those expectation levels have heaped intolerable pressure on the players which they have struggled to cope with. If they feature in this coming season’s title race (which I expect them to) it will be interesting to see how they cope at the business end of the season if they are still in contention. A club that size will win the league eventually, I guess, but it would have to be a ‘perfect’ season imo, where all those around them failed to perform and put them under pressure. I think any meaningful pressure being applied to that club is highly likely to have the desired effect.

If they are in contention in April I would expect them to buckle as the pressure intensified, but that isn’t inevitable, I guess. What would be inevitable, however, is how unbearable it would be to endure, especially in the media. We owe it to the nation to try our utmost to prevent this from happening.

I was chatting to a lfc work colleague today. He says klopp under no pressure to win anything. I laughed and said he has to win something for the money spent...his reply was fsg dont care about winning silverware as long as the staduim is full !!!!!

Ironic seeing as City get higher attendances than Liverpool, a fact conveniently ignored by the empty seats brigade.

All of the Premier League clubs owe this to the nation.

Such an abomination can never be allowed to happen.

Sergio Ramos should have been awarded a medal & should have a statue outside the houses of Parliament, for his services to this country. That's the kind of spirit we all need.

I’d agree with most of that but:

1) Re Klopp - the fans will need someone to blame if it doesn’t work out. They are still banging on about Karius and Ramos rather than learning from it and moving on

2) I don’t think they ‘bottled’ the title when we won it. Their form to get them there was extraordinary , 13 wins on the spin I think. It was merely the law of averages catching up with them and City’s post Xmas form that season was brilliant. Liverpool also had 2 game in hand for a while which distorted things

...

The same way City supporters have moved on from the offside situations and disallowed goals? ;)

Wrongly being flagged off side and goals being allowed/disallowed is different from an injury that could happen to anyone, anytime slagging a keeper off for a couple of mistakes

I.e offsides are correct or incorrect. What happened in the final was a bit of a freak yet they hold it up as an injustice

The PL is notoriously hard to settle in for goal keepers. Ederson was the exception I feel.

The biggest question is how will their new players settle especially Alisson. He was one of the best keepers in Serie A but had a very underwhelming World Cup which came as a big surprise as I had him as keeper of the tournament.

Alisson from Serie A, Fabinho from Ligue 1, Naby from Bundesliga, all from very different leagues. I doubt all will settle quickly.

Will Salah repeat his record breaking season?

After they made such signings you can’t help but think they will challenge but thinking about it more, the 2019/2020 season is probably the one they can finally fight for the title if they keep Salah and their new signings successfully adapt to the PL.
