Liverpool thread 2018/19

I think it's bad news. The confidence from beating Bayern regardless of their current squad will give them huge confidence. Winning games is always a good thing. The additional games in the CL might be a physical effort but it is mentally where the title will be won or lost and the distraction is a good thing for Liverpool players and fans alike.

Sat there all week with one competition means it is all you can think about amd the pressure builds.

With regard to the draw, I have no sgame in saying I would prefer to avoid Liverpool. Their record against us at Anfield has a hold on us. It has to end at some point but I would rather they drew Barcelona and had Juve and United their side whilst we got Porto with Spurs playing Ajax.

Our success will be reliant on some luck. Would we have won at Leicester in the league cup if Puel picked a first team? Not the way we played that day. Our FA Cup draw has been favourable.

The only positive about Liverpool being in it is more opportunity for Salah or Van Dijk to be burnt out/injured. They remain hugely reliant on those two.

Yeah, I understand that school of thought but I'm not wholly behind it. The two games a week thing will hit Liverpool harder than us as they have a smaller squad. You could se it recently with the injuries to Stones, Fernandinho etc - overplaying intense games does create muscle problems. Totally agree about needing luck in cup competitions, though.

We are going to have some enormous games over the next couple of months - FA Cup games, possibly with extra time, against big team. We could easily have United in either or both cups and that's going to place a big strain on our best players. I don't really want Liverpool having all week to prepare to play some cannon fodder whilst we have an enormous game against United or Barca that week.

There are arguments both ways in regards to them going through. The long and short is if they get Porto, they will be in the semis, if the get United they are likely to be emotionally exhausted and probably go out

I have been wrong all the way this season in regards to City and Liverpool but I still think Liverpool are favorites and that our schedule and injuries will catch up with us

Good news for City that Liverpool are through. More games for them of course, and also knocking them out over 2 legs could psychologically destroy their season.

Having said that, I'm convinced we are going to win the champions league but lose the premier league narrowly. I know many don't feel the same but I'd take that in a heartbeat.
As long as we win one of them I don't mind. Both for us would be incredible; both for them and there would be stampedes at the airports and ports.

So we all realise that that game now guarantees VVD will win PFA player of the year.

Wrong competition but of course that won’t matter.

I just heard on the Rabona pod “that settles the conversation.” Not specifically referring to this, but was about his headed goal.

What conversation? Hmmm What else would he be referring to as that’s when this thought crossed my mind.

I cannot see them winning both for a minute. We are better than them and will stop them.

We are the ones who can win both. If we do that and beat United at Wembley to win the FA cup, it definitely won't have been a bad season.

Of course Klopp is celebrating his "Bayern were impressed by us" -Cup.

But seriously: Kovac defensive setup at home is not what Bayern is used to do at home.
I think Kovac will come under pressure long term, Bayern used to be a power at home.

When Kovac doesn't know how to get behind a midfield press,
he should ask us on BM. They were sitting too deep, Lewandowski was completely isolated. Poor fucker.

Creative mid was non-existant, James pisspoor, Thiago not good enough,
Alaba and Rafinha as full backs were shocking.

When you give the first goal away like that
and at 1-1 don't put up pressure after the break, well.

I didn't expect such a poor Bayern side. They had way too much respect
and didn't have the "arrogant" winning mentality they used to have in good times.

Will be a busy transfer summer for Bayern, but it will take long to fix the problems they have since years.

Dippers were not great but did what they had to do vs poor and helpless Bayern.
