Liverpool thread 2018/19

It's weird how there's such a losers mentality developing over there buried underneath all that outward excitement considering how primed they are this season. Lots of excuses already, mixed in with a surprising lack of ambition. It's like their goal is to be our challengers, not to actually win the league. 0% accountability about anything. Still blaming Ramos and concussions. Still blaming the 5-0 on the red (but the 3-0 and the 2-1 had no outer influences). Still coming up with excuses for their spending. Still acting like they don't have a great team when questioned about their title hopes. Remember everything Klopp said after the 2-2 at West Brom last season. Compare how Karius (or even Mignolet or Lovren) handled the grief he was getting to how Sterling did it. That's something that comes from the top down.

I know I've pointed out reasons why they may not win the league in this thread, but they're damn sure not going to do it until they actually develop some serious belief and take up some accountability. If they want to wonder why they've lost in 6 finals without winning one they might want to address the problem between their ears.

Great post.

I hope they never, ever do.

Bottlers, when it gets to the back end of the season/Cup final they choke. If the Dippers win nothing this season will their fans still be happy with him?

He’ll sing a song with the fans in a bar. Run down the touch line a few times yelling. He’ll say boom, and that Salah had a Cold. That the sun got into Alisson’s eyes when he let in the winning the goal. That Van Dijk went for a header and suffered a concussion. He’ll say the better team lost and this season laid the foundations for next season.

And all red dippers will be asking for an extension telling us how next year is their year.

This Liverpool FC reporting Salah to the Police thing is all a bit over the top - a bit passive aggressive. Liverpool playing the victim card again.

its like Liverpool are saying they have higher standards than other clubs. They are more responsible. More decent. Like they would never encourage their supporters to attack a coach or anything like that.

Tossers. All of them.
So the recording was taken by somebody at Liverpool Football Club?
Or, they've been told about it, logged onto YouTube, had a meeting at director level, and then decided their next action.
Let's look like goody two shoes and announce that we've sent it to the police, as if the police hadn't already seen it.
The whole thing is an embarrassing sham

I think Klopp's latest comments frame your 'losers mentality' perfectly. I refer to his comments about him not having the ambition to be the best team and the best manager. Manchester City are the best team and therefore he wants to beat the best team as often as possible.

Having reached the tender age of fifty, I finally understand some amateur psychology, and it applies to everyday business life. I'm in sales, you can have a great month, quarter, year but ultimately you are going to be judged on your current performance. Also, some of the most successful businesses focus on how to be better for their customers rather than obsessing about competitors, therefore ensuring that ultimately you are always competing against yourself. I'm sure we have all heard managers of successful football teams down the years say that they are only focused on the next game. It's boring but it's the only aporoach to take. I guarantee Pep is only thinking about Huddersfield, whilst Klopp is thinking about us rather than his next fixture.

That is why I have no doubt we will probably lose games against Liverpool this season, but I also have no doubt they will still contrive to lose seemingly easy fixtures too. To be successful you just keep concentrating on the next game, then the next. Liverpool will be marking the days on their calendar counting down to City games.
