Merseyside police being their usual incompetent selves today. Exclusion zone around stadium and advising Everton fans to get there 90 mins before kick off. They more than anyone should know about crowd control. Priming the blue half up for blame should anything happen.

I remember the League Cup semi back in 2012 when a fatal RTA en route to Liverpool meant loads of City fans dropped on the ground much later than expected and there was an issue with the turnstiles on Anfield Road which further compounded the situation, which led to crushing outside, yet the police didn’t give 2 shits, instead blaming the fans for “turning up late”. You’d think in light of what happened in 1989, if there was one police force in he country who you would expect not to adopt that attitude, it would be Merseyside police.

I only found out a few years later that just 6 weeks or so after that incident, there was a similar situation when your team played there in the derby. It doesn’t take much for things to go wrong there with it being a narrow street, and with a large away contingent today it wouldn’t surprise me if there were issues again.

Chelsea weren't in the CL or EL when Conte made them champions, it's incomparable.

Sterling didn't play in a long international summer tournament like Mane. AFCON started Juni and finished on 19.07 with Mane playing in the final after playing in June with Liverpool in the CL final. Sterling's season finished earlier and he had 2-3 games with England. Despite having much more rest than Mane in the summer, Sterling has experienced a dip in form since November. Mane has been as good in April, May, June, July, Ausgust up to January. Indestructible and absolutely consistent without having much rest at all.

Edit: Last season, in the PL and the CL, Mane played about 600 minutes more than Sterling which is more than 6 full games. Sterling had more games in the cups but there the physical and mental effort isn't comparable. After that taxing season Sterling had much more rest and still hasn't looked as consistent as Mane.

Liverpool had CL but forfeited the domestic cups. Chelsea and Leicester had the domestic cups instead of CL. You exclude minutes and games from domestic cups, when making your equation.

Liverpool went out of both domestic cups in the first leg, last year, fielding few first team starters. This year they have started kids in each of the games.

Six games last season, is about the same amount of games sterling played (more than Liverpool) in the domestic cups, right?

Everton are cursed tbh. Have you seen our midfield?

Also, I swear Chirivella solely exists to be wheeled out for cup games.

You aren't comparing games against Burton Albion or Swansea in the cups with games against Bayern and Barca, are you? And the fact that Mane had barely any rest compared to Sterling doesn't matter either.

The PL went to great lengths to make the Christmas schedule easier for Liverpool, supposedly because of their trip to Quatar, yet they did barely rotate their team despite playing 120 minutes against Flamengo, and looked much fresher than SU, unsurprisingly. Well done.
