Liverpool thread 2019/20

It’s becoming a little toxic between the supporters, which is actually feeding that rivalry. Had a Liverpool fan try and give it the big one to me the other day. I had just been introduced to him by a mutual friend (who I really respect, and was still present) so I had to bite my tongue, but otherwise he’d be getting the rope-a-dope on Liverpool’s history (there’s no way he’d know what year his club first won the FA Cup, which I do, obviously, being 61 years after City first won it) followed by me playing my Joker of the M-Bomb if he refused to come to heel in an orderly fashion.

Cünt’s probably never been to Anfield, despite his unconvincing claims to the contrary.
Unfortunately they do have a pretty toxic fanbase and a very high volume of plastic armchair fans, particularly where I live in North Lancashire but, I also know they have a hard core of matchgoers. There is so much PR noise around Liverpool it is easy to forget that underneath it all there is a football club with some real fans.
There is genuine hatred now between the fans of both clubs and I think it's a bit sad because it detracts from the achievements of the teams who are truly brilliant. I think if you combined their defence with our midfield and had a merged front three from both clubs you would have the greatest team of all time no doubt.

Unfortunately, it’s difficult for me to get away from reading/watching/hearing it these days, as it is one of my only ways to pass time and engage with the world now, hence why I choose to discuss it (on one of my “good” days that I can functionally participate on here)

but I respect those that can and have binned off Sky and generally ignore the drivel
I’m sorry if you have mentioned numerous times, but what has happened? I haven’t been on here as often over the last month or so. Sending best wishes to you.

No worries mate — I have an autoimmune disease that was diagnosed in the last year after I stubbornly ignored symptoms for far too long, stupidly making worse than it needed to be earlier than it needed it be, and it has unfortunately Taken a progressive course over the last six months. The pandemic has complicated treatment and mitigation of symptoms (as well likely increased severity due to stress) and it often makes it difficult and time consuming to type or even voice dictate

couple that with still needing to Work, which takes up most of my free time most days, and I usually more of an observer and serial liker now, much to many hallelujahs on here I imagine. Fortunately — or unfortunately, depending on who you are — I have taken a full week and a half off starting today, football is back, and am having a “good” day today, so I decided to Subject all of you once more to the torture of reading and responding to my musings.

Wish you well mate and it's always a pleasure reading your posts so don't stop. My missus has Ms and stress and tiredness are the worst things for it so take it easy

Really sorry to hear that. Wishing you more ‘good’ days mate, best of luck. Always good to read your posts, so definitely no torture here!

Cheers — doing my best to reduce stress, hence the time off with more Bluemoon browsing

Hoping our lads will give us something else Positive to think about today and next Thursday :-)

If you’re trying to reduce stress, stay away from the matchday forum tonight and if Martin Tyler is commentating, for fuck’s sake mute your telly.

I also hope your good days outweigh the bad. Good luck blue.

Maybe its due to me having had to move over here and being away from the NW but I never really sensed a "hatred" between Liverpool & City fans. Been to a few games between the two over the years and never sensed it. Chatted with a few City fans in the past when i happen to have just gone to any game that I could and it happened to have City playing (seen City away at Oldham, Millwall, Hull & Palace over the years) and never got a bad vibe or animosity from them.
That said I haven't been to a prem game for a couple of years now...so where does this come from? I know we have the recent bus incident and the hacking, but does it pre date that...or is it since forums have become more widely used to find like minded souls?
Is it solely since City have become successful again?......then again maybe as I suspect just being naive?
