Or clubs could decline to enter meaningless competitions which are no more than vanity excercises and cash machines for the organising authorities .

But perhaps the dipper fans want the club being known as " World Royalty " so long as they win the hollow award ?

The problem with FIFA is tha they punish clubs if they don't play along. I'm pretty sure Liverpool will field a b-team in the world Cup of clubs...or whatever it's called.

I think it is probably time clubs start getting together to complain about the PL putting the players and match going fans at least level with the Broadcasters/TV audience in importance. Expecting it to happen mid season for special treatment for you and nobody else is not the right way to go about it though. I hope anyway because they've told City to like it or lump it and City have had to get on with it for a couple of seasons now. So if Liverpool get a different answer that would be preferential treatment.

Go forward in to next season though, if players start burning out, it will start to affect the quality of the "product" they want to sell. It could possibly shorten their playing careers too, through wear and tear without the right rest and more frequent injuries. Put it to a vote, ask the players and the physios from each club what they feel about it and agree on a new set of guidelines.
Is it this winter we have a break? that will help, there is so much money and i reckon corruption in football i don't ever see a time when the players and fans needs are taken into consideration, they don't care about players getting injured through burnout because it all adds into the soap opera that is the prem, they want the stories to change as many times as possible to keep the brand entertaining,as for the supporters, they have never cared about them, the hammering ours got in the media for not going to every single game of 4 comps right into april was ridiculous, our fans are not made of money let alone the time for 3 games a week every week

Does anyone know how many games City would have played last season if we wouldn’t have gifted Spurs the CL QF and gone on to beat Ajax in the CL SF, and played Littlewoods in the CL final?

There’s truth in the too much football claim tbh, even if big teeth is raising it. It only really kicks in if you are a really big club though. Price of success.

I think the carabao has been decent entertainment tbf. The fifa club World Cup seems to me to be a bit shit and just a moneyspinner

No, they’re already claiming Liverpool will be the best team in the World when they win the FIFA World Club tournament.

All off football will have to go through another period of Littlwoods fans gloating about their team and club.

Prepare yourself.

The rags pulled out of the fa cup as I recall in order to take part in the shit competition . If it is so important to Liverpool ( for vanity yet fake bragging rights I suspect ) they could have made the same decision or are clubs obliged to take part in every competition run by their football authorities ?

Check the game schedule City were committed to last season when competing in all domestic competitions and the CL , it's what successful teams have to deal with, even if the schedule is ridiculous .

The problem is that Liverpool seemingly want everything worked in their favour, even if others have just got on with it, whatever the outcome . It's another example of their " entitled attidude " in my opinion .

But, but, they are ‘Self proclaimed’ European Royalty.

See we have a derby match at the swamp coming up. Then we play Chelsea the day after at Wembley. May get a result at the cycle rack but, I think Keith Hackets reffing at Wembley . May lose that by the odd goal.

They will play the b team in the league Cup and hope to go out of it, the dipper cnuts want all the faux glory of the cwc, such a set of disrespectful motherfuckers

It's very clear,we played every 3 days for 10mths,we played every comp winning 4 trophies,we didn't take any warm weather training weeks,we played about a dozen more games than you and didn't make excuses just got on with it
This coming dec we play twice in 46hrs,pep has been asked it and doesn't like it but when we get to it he won't moan or make excuses, just get on with it,if you want to play at the top you have to play more games, you are not a special case and making excuses is not a good mentality to have

" I completely agree,” said Guardiola. “Less games. Less fixtures, less competitions, more recovery"

"We play December 27 and 29 in winter. It’s always the debate, in UEFA meetings they talk about it. I’m with Jurgen about it being too much.”

It's not about excuses or who's better or who plays more. It's about trying to change the mindset of those who schedule these games with so little regard for the players and staff. Your own manager agrees.

Oh I was there at Wembley oh for another 5 mins and we would have won !!! Was that thanks to Clubs not being in Europe for some reason...

To be fair, most PL teams do that already - it depends to a large extent on how keen they are to win it. As shown by the match at Anfield last week, Klipperty put out a team of kids v Arsenal, who replied by matching them and lost on penalties!
It's obvious City enjoy the competition, but tailor the team for the occasion. It's always a mixture of youth and experience, plus the odd player returning from injury for playing time. The nearer the final, the stronger the team, but with the proviso that there will still be a youthful contingent involved.
As the prize for winning it is a place in the Thursday Night Cup, I'm amazed that most teams don't/can't be bothered putting out a competitive side, however it is made up, though I do note that a team in Stretford almost have the first team out on the cup match nights. (I suppose it shows how much they like the Thursday Night Cup)

Last season, when we played Leicester in the quarterfinals, I was really surprised that Puel didn’t field a stronger team than he did.

He must have known that Pep would play a mixture of kids and squad players and it was a golden opportunity for the Foxes to reach the semus, and considering the draw, the final with the obvious reward of Europa League football this season at the very least and maybe the glory of winning it.

Difference being pep didn't threaten to pull out of an english cup competition tho as scouse cnuts don't consider themselves to be English it wouldn't matter to them the disrespectful mother fuckers

Well he is not going say klopp is making excuses and he should suck it up,every manager would like less games and more recovery and training time that goes without saying, ultimately it will make zero difference,my point is you are not a special case and the reason you have to play the world cup thing is because you qualified for it,trying to throw the carabo cup or insisting they move the dates for you is not on,every year we have won it we have had prem games moved so we could play in the final,it's results in fixture pile ups in the prem and we have had games in hand rather than the points on the board,2014 when we were behind you is the case in point, you play football to win trophies,it's not supposed to be easy, that what makes what we have done in the last 2 seasons more impressive

I have a brain injury so it doesn't always come together how i intend it to,you could have worked it out ;)

I'm sorry. No offence meant.

I guess I just see the comments about fixture pile up differently.

I'm my eyes Klopp is letting everyone know Liverpool had raised this issue very early on and I don't think he ever really had any intention of not fulfilling the fixture.

He's trying to say that in order for all English clubs to have the best chance possible maybe, just maybe they need to have a bit of a think about changing things.

Guardiola didn't have to elaborate. He's clearly a very intelligent man who's well versed at dealing with the media.

He agrees twice in two statements.

No problem
He is talking about throwing the cup for a pretty meaningless world cup thing that's why it seems like a fuss over nothing,it wouldn't make you best team in the world lol
