Liverpool thread 2020/21

All football fans know that the simple truth is Liverpool should be top of the league. If it wasn't for Covid, Pickford, Ramos, Margaret Thatcher, the Wall Street Crash of 1922, Genghis Khan, the bloke who sits in the snug every night, the great barrier reef and those dirty Arabs with their oil money that is.
You left out Judas Iscariot.

If they miss out on top 4, who do people think will leave and to where?
Barca surely can't afford anyone, bayern generally don't spend huge amounts and they wouldn't sell to city so maybe only leaves Madrid and psg to pick off those who want out.

Wijnaldum looks as if he's off on a free and Mane and Salah must be looking at the exit but like you said its very difficult to see many clubs paying the 100 mil FSG would want. Maybe the reality that they are trapped at the club is one of the reasons morale seems to have deteriorated so much this season

Players everywhere will leave clubs this summer for under their previous valuation, clubs know they'll down tools otherwise

Scouse boom and bust cycle is alive and well. Next year lah.

That’s it, you’ve nailed it. It’s the cycle.

Usually, peak scouse optimism is in June/July, but usually no actual football is played then.

Last season, when for once football was played at that time of the year, they won the league.

This season, normal service has been resumed. Thank God for that, and thank you for making me realise why the world turned itself upside down.

Proof if ever it was needed that there is no sincerely held opinions on Sky/BT etc but paid for editorial narratives.
I will take that further. I think Rio was not scripted by BT. I believe there is an old boys network looking back. Old adversaries becoming allies in the face of an upstart. I am seeing this in all the media. Oh, the good old days, misty eyed (shit eyed more like) pining for former glory and believing the world was so much better then (cue conspiring to get us kicked out and Super League proposals - RAWK is awash today with calls to break away).
The hegemony and the underlying narrative is set. I think BT and Sky will be shutting themselves about a breakaway. I just hope our owners buy the TV rights for the Super League

I completely agree with your observations there Hart.

You can't blame them however, because Manchester City have irrevocably broken the Premier League.

The media and pundits can no longer talk about the "Top Four" of the Premier League and now have to resort to the "Big Six" or "Top Eight" depending upon where the rags and dippers happen to find themselves.

The game is up for the historical elite of the Premier League so it makes perfect sense to conspire against their biggest threat.

Liverpool won’t sell if their valuation isn’t met and I can’t see them being ok with their Crown Jewels being sold at that much less than their peak
