of course this guy on rawk has no interest in city whatsoever....

I'd say they were actually respected to some extent. Yes, they had a minority of feral scumbags following them back in the day, but most were ok. I've only ever known one fan of the old Man City, and he was a lovely fella who got us Reds tickets for the stand opposite the Kippax for our games there. Last I heard was he binned them off after they became a Sportswash vehicle.

To be honest, I always found Maine Road one of the most depressing grounds in the country to watch a game for some reason. I always disliked even seeing it on MotD. That bloody Helen woman ringing that bell too. Every time I went to see us there we beat them though.

They have had some really good players though, and many of their fans had a decent attitude. They retained a solid hardcore regardless of yo-yoing up and down the divisions and got good crowds considering how shite they were. They also had a rather endearing sense of humour in the face of adversity which won them some admirers. In the face of the brash arrogance and insane self-entitlement of their neighbours, they did seem like a refreshing change.

Sadly, since the sheikh bought them off, they have abandoned all that and have become everything they despised about their neighbours. Everything they said they were against, they have now become. Brash, arrogant, entitled, lacking in awareness, selfish, greedy, pompous. They have become everything they hated. Even worse though, the neighbours they despised actually earned their success, but these Abu Dhabi apologists know full well their 'club' haven't.

I saw something in the paper the other day where someone said they are sad that the likes of Colin Bell, Tony Book, Francis Lee et al are not around to see all this. Personally, I think they'll be turning in their graves at what their club has become. The old Man City weren't especially successful, but at least they stood for something. The current abomination has seen them become everything they hated and stood against. They are the ultimate sellout. All principle abandoned for the love of money and the trinkets it can buy.

They aren't respected, never will be respected and never can be respected. Their current fans aren't respected and they never will be. They don't have any self-respect, so how is anyone else expected to respect them? They don't respect the game either, so will not gain respect from anyone in the game who has an ounce of awareness.

Manchester City do not exist anymore. A repugnant regime bought the name and bought off much of the fanbase in order to launder a terrible reputation. The ugly entity that now carries the City name will buy trophies and distort and destroy the game, and their apologists won't care because that's the type of people they've become, but they'll never have respect.

The fact they don't even enjoy their off-the-peg success is quite telling. They are still desperate for the kind of approval they won't get because they haven't earned it. I've never actually know a fanbase so unhappy when picking up trophies. They are still so desperately insecure, despite everything.

They are a tainted, asterisk club that picks up tainted, asterisk trophies.
Really, there is nothing in there to respect. It's nothing but a hollow, soulless sham.

Tony says hi :)

I’m not entirely sure, but I think he might feel that we’re not respected.

That's just a long way of saying "we liked City when we were winning everything and they were shit but we hate them now they're winning everything and we're shit".

Erm erm erm !

Makes me laugh when these coach wreckers, fans of a club gets us all ban from Europe talks about my club and me.

I have never meet this knobhead.

Well knobhead you talk bollocks,

You dont like us because we built our ocean going ship canal to cut out the middle man , you.
You dont like the fact we stood up for the abolishment of the slave trade.

Your little city is a horrible little place with a horrible highly strung little accent. ( sorry to our nice Everton fans )

Our owners have spent millions on the campus and the surrounding area of East Manchester, unlike your owner who bought a few house around Anfield. Left them empty to force down the price of the others so your owners could buy cheaper.

Our owners saved Barclays from going bust. You bank sponsor was fined 1.2 billion for money laundering.

Book and Lee wont be turning in their grave you knob as both are alive and kicking.

Now getting to football, let me tell you after following City for 60 years I am fucking loving it. All this success is made all the more sweeter by our time in the 2nd and 3rd divisions.
We have a rich history first English club to win a domestic and European in the same season. I could go on.

As for an asterisk club that's funny because you lot needed a 3 month break to win your first ever premier league, and than stumbled across. If VAR hadnt of helped you so much, it would have been alot closer.
Now look how well you have defended your title, oh wait we cant because you have been so shit lol.
Most of your fans arent local like utd. Yes we mocked that but that was pre Sky. Football the premier league is seen world wide, and fan bases are changing I wouldnt argue against that. Do I like it as an old school City fan. Well as a fact I do, it's nice to now see more City shirts in my part of kent and less dippers and utd. Its fucking brilliant to see little kids in full City kits i love it.

The one thing that has always puzzled me is why kids around here support your lot. I have asked a few parents and they saying things like " because they mates do or they see liverpool on the tv etc". I respond by saying "if my lads didnt support City there is no why they would support liverpool "
The parents laugh and say "why?". I just respond my saying "Google Heysel , theres no way my kids could support that".
Same happened when I chat to a mid twenties bloke from the USA , he had never heard of Heysel. Or your regular misbehaviour in Europe.

See the press/media hide up alot of your history the history you dont want to acknowledge, the history you dont want the world to know about.

The press/media is full of dipper supporting I wont call them journalist because they arent !. The tv is full of ex dipper players.

Real fans not dippers or rags but most real fans wish what has happened at City happen to their club. Yes it was like winning the lottery but it's what you do with your winnings that matter. Ours is being well spent. Not just on players but the campus and surrounding area its bloody brilliant.
Dont for forget you were a bog standard 2nd division club until you won the lottery. It was called the pools back than own by the Moores family.
You were a sugar daddy club way before City.

So crawl back under your stone and enjoy your defence of your first premier league title.
