I don't know Liverpool, but I travel a lot between Leeds and Manchester and it has struck me how much more vibrant Manchester is compared to Leeds. Leeds has a wonderful historic City centre but it is a ghost town. I bet its the same with other Northern cities.
Apart from Newcastle which is a fantastic City, much smaller than Manchester but a cracking City nonetheless.

Just did a squad comparison...

Liverpool

Goalkeepers - Alisson, Adrian, Kelleher (3)
Fullbacks - Alexander-Arnold, Robertson, Tsimikas (3)
Central Defenders - Van Dijk, Matip, Konate, Gomez (4)
Midfielders - Fabinho, Thiago, Keita, Henderson, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Milner, Jones (7)
Forwards - Salah, Mane, Jota, Firmino, Minamino, Origi (6)

City

Goalkeepers - Ederson, Steffen, Carson (3)
Fullbacks - Cancelo, Walker, Zinchenko (3)
Central Defenders - Dias, Laporte, Stones, Aké (4)
Midfielders - Rodri, Fernandinho, Bernardo, De Bruyne, Gundogan (5)
Forwards - Mahrez, Jesus, Sterling, Foden, Grealish, Palmer (6)

They actually have a slightly bigger squad than us.
Top work, you missed out

Manager

City - Pep (1)

Liverpool - **** (1)

Let's hope we ruin Boxing Day in Norway, Scandinavia, Ireland, Wales, London, the Home Counties, the Far East, etc, and amongst the '6000' LFC season ticket holders who come from Liverpool.
I would've rounded down, 5000

I am not slagging off Leeds, my focus is little Liverpool, but that sounds like an opinion you are expressing based on aesthetics, which is fair enough. If you base it on economy, population, income per population, investment, expenditure etc than Manchester (with its two big clubs, ok one is in Stretford) is the powerhouse of the north with Leeds a worthy second. Liverpool on the other hand is small and insignificant in comparison with an inferior complex that manifests itself in that red football club.
Leeds is a nicer place to live. Yes Manchester has more investment and a larger population but like I say, it's being wasted on making it Gotham than doing something productive like making Piccadilly beautiful again.

Liverpool's a shit hole.

As good as Klopp can be, they'll struggle if they don't get this situation sorted. Jota is part-way to solving it but they won't keep getting transfer hits with their strategy.
