Remember a few years ago, think it was 2014 after Steveeee Geeee slipped, on their tour of the US, they definitely held a minute's silence for Hillsborough in at least one of the games (think it was in Boston). This was in July. "Come, buy your Liverpool tickets, get your replica top and tell your friends you got to join in one of the hallowed minute's silences". Thought that was fucking disgraceful. Turning legitimate grief into a marketing tool.

I understand that, and for context, I was oddly at Anfield for the 20th anniversary of hillsborough, the one where Burnham gave his speech. My mrs is from Bootle and we were sorting out our wedding venue out over there, realised what day it was, and thought we'd go and pay our respects. She's a toffee but also lost a couple of school mates at Hillsborough.

But suggesting that Manchester school kids should be taught about it is beyond fucking ridiculous. Yes, there was a cover up, but there's been all sorts of bullshit coverups over the years. You want to have a course on gov cover ups? Sound. But them trying to make out like they're the only ones who've ever been shat on, especially after the behaviour of their own fans over the years? They can fuck right off.
I don't have too much of an issue with Ian Byrne reaching out to City on this. I've read the full letter and he strikes the right tone and is not scathing of the club in any way. Like you say though, if something is going to be implemented regarding education on cover-ups then it needs to go beyond Hillsborough, and it also needs to go beyond Merseyside and Greater Manchester. It needs to be nationwide because there are fans of clubs all over the country who still believe the lies peddled by the police and The Sun (and also the Daily Star but at least they had the good grace to publish a retraction the following day).

I've said already that from my own vantage point at Wembley on Saturday it seemed it was just concourse singing but obviously I can't speak for all other sections of our end and If any City fans did deliberately disrupt the silence then that's out of order and I've no issue with it being called out. What I do take issue with is the amount of negative press our fans have received following Saturday in proportion to United fans on this topic. City fans were impeccable at Anfield in 2014 when it was the 25th anniversary and we've never sung en masse "The Sun was right, you're murderers" like United fans do year in year out. Sure, individual City fans have controversial views about Hillsborough as do fans of most other clubs but as a collective we've a far cleaner slate than United fans on this. Yet United fans almost get a free pass in many quarters. They were even at it last night following the applause for Ronaldo but while there is some criticism this morning, it almost feels like there's an acceptance that they will always do it. I'll even include some Liverpool fans in that. They were quick to gang up and go after a lone female City fan on Twitter for shouting "Always the victims", yet United fans constantly singing a song every time they play Liverpool that isn't in any way ambiguous and is clearly a Hillsborough reference doesn't seem to have garnered the same level of outrage as what that female City fan said and some City fans allegedly chanting "City" during a period of silence.

We got to be magnanimous to the new champions.

I assume the trophy will be lifted at the Everton game. Followed by the bus parade.

They need a years rest from their inhalers and will just qualify for the CL next season.

Until then. Let them celebrate knowing FSG will fuck off Peter Sutcliffe and replace him with Patrick Bamford.

Best keeper, best defender, best full backs, best defensive midfielder, best goalscorer, best passer...these cunts must be 20 points clear...oh just 2 points having played a game more.

Give it a fucking rest.

You missed the most important best ever out, the best PL team ever, that totally flopped defending their PL title the following season.

No doubt Liverpool are the best PL team ever again after winning the Carabao Cup so far this season.

Apart from Real Madrid fans, is their a bigger self-entitled fan base in the world of football? (no there isn't)

Didn't the scruffs play Juventus in a CL possibly a group game a few years ago? The Italians who braved the dipperdome made it abundantly clear nothing had been forgotten. Think many Italian clubs hate them for the same reason.

I can't see that changing, it's natural to despise the cult of a club and they've got as good a reason as anyone else.

I was almost impressed when they started the minute's applause last night but then they had to go that one step further and sing YNWA to make it about them again.
They seemed to be clapping like demented seals applauding the main act at the London palladium.

One of the very few times i didn't mind the rendition,it seemed very appropriate to the circumstances.
I cant stand them but i can't/won't find fault with the Tramps last night.

Don't know if its been discussed already, but I can't believe the praise Liverpool are getting for their reaction to the tragic Ronaldo news.

1. They sorted a minute's applause. Much safer than a minute's silence.
2. They then sang their main song throughout it. Yes the lyrics are fairly supportive, but it just meant that even if some fans didn't want to pay respect, they just sang that song. It'd be a bit like us having a minute's applause and then everyone singing Blue Moon all the way through it.
