To be fair that isn't a myth made up be the city of liverpool, Thatcher dill wilfully try and destroy the city.

During that time manchester and other northern citys gave them 100% backing and stood in solidarity with liverpool, as did the mancunian populace ( days when it wasn't as petty as football rivalries).

Liverpool as a club are cynts and using the 80s decimation of the north( not just liverpool) by the tory cunts is opotunist, but it is still true

I have no gripe with them hating the tories or establishment, as I do

I have an issue that they make ot out like it is/was onlt them.

Socialist city, fuck off, Manchester is and always gas been more left wing than them cunts

Not quite true.

Liverpool and the militant city council tried to take on Thatcher and ultimately lost. Whilst this dragged on with other Conservative governments, Manchester’s Labour Council began working with Conservative Governments. Especially with Heseltine after the IRA bomb and the rebuilding of Manchester City Centre.

Liverpudlians have long argued that Manchester is London’s pet and has always had preferential treatment and privileges from London compared to Liverpool. (the Commonwealth Games, the BBC relocation North, Metrolink investment, HS2, etc) Liverpudlians see Manchester as trying to dominate Liverpool, trying to be the a mini London, and trying to be the Capital of the North.

I the meantime Liverpool was getting £1bill in Objective 1 funding from the EU as it was classed as a deprived European City. Where did all the funding go and on what?

Around 1615-19 a popilar ale house chant was "God save the king the most noble and glorious"

Over the years beyond 1619 this pub chant evolved as England fought several wars with scotland adn europe, as people added verses, eventually put to a tune in a pub in Londom one man belted out our anthem as a patriotic barb towards some scots in attendance, it caught on and spread.

It has never actually been recognised as a national anthem but is used as we have none
Thanks! So, de facto national anthem. Why do the scousers boo it?

All that happened in the 70s and 80s. They brought a lot on themselves though. The docks, they went on strike because they refused to handle containers. They said it was about jobs, it wasn't it was justvthe fact you cant rob from containers. But OK hate the tories but what have they to do with a national anthem.
All this scouse not English shite. Also why boo Abide With Me ?

They just want to be permanent victims. They crave it.

That isn't true though, liverpudilians I have known have never felt that way, maybe in the business comunity they have, but normal working class mancs and scousers have never been divided on social issues or distain for tories, only football has divided us, not politics

Maybe because they had militant tendancy and got a lot of news coverage, a lot her are forgetting that in the 80s Manchestwr wa just as beligerent, we had mass strikes at McVities, GEC, north west water, several mines, etc.

All of these wre backed by the populace of Manchester, who also stood in solidarity with Liverpool and the miners in Yorkshire and beyond

According to the Liverpool Echo, it’s because it’s not their fault once again.

And this is why we call it the Red Echo.

Liverpool as ever putting forward the victim narrative that for some obscure reason a three times elected Thatcher government was trying to ruin them,it would appear some people are buying into that nonsense.Liverpool was "destroyed" by the outdated unions particularly car workers and Dockers who were frequently striking just for "parity "which in reality meant leapfrogging the other main unions,in their league table(N.U.M. Dockers Steelworkers )all of which were heavily subsidized by the tax payer most of whom were earning much less than them.
Eventually they were bought off, when containerization did away with overmanning and the Dockers raincoat. As for the idea that spreading wealth will create a more equal society ,they got large redundancy payments equivalent at the time of the price of a number of houses. I let others decide whether this generated a great innovative, entrepreneurial area,or whether it simply increased Marsdens and Tetley's share price.
They also got direct investment of millions to try and make them happy ,with The Albert Dock scheme and efforts to make a Garden City, which fell apart when after a number of years the council were asked to contribute with " Degsy Hatton" looking after things.

It started with Heseltine in 1981 after the riots. He came to Moss Side and ultimately the Hulme regeneration project was born in 1990 ish. The Olympic bid and the Hulme Design Code too. The original stadium was based in Hulme but Leese and Stringer were of the view East Manchester was being forgotten. Thus the Etihad. Interesting as Liverpool were behind the game at that time but Peel Holdings saved them afterwards.

A lot of public funding in Liverpool eventually made its way into the hands of organised crime via crooked officials but very few people have ended up doing time despite a series of high profile criminal investigations. I worked in the city in the 1980s and, to be honest, it felt like how I imagined Chicago was in the 1920s. There was corruption on a grand scale, including the local police force itself. A large number of entertainment venues were little more than money laundering operations for the international drugs baron Curtis Warren who made it to the Sunday Times Rich List. It was a great night out in those days though.

Interesting.

Still going on to this day.

The Local Government Secretary Robert Jenrick has today (10 June 2021) appointed independent commissioners to oversee improvements at Liverpool City Council.

Interventions of this kind are extremely rare and underline the severity of the failings at Liverpool City Council and the need ensure that the council can continue to deliver vital services for the people of Liverpool.

In March an independent report uncovered multiple serious failures by Liverpool City Council in complying with its Best Value Duty.

The independent report uncovered a deeply concerning picture of mismanagement, which included serious failures of governance, a lack of scrutiny and regard of public funds, and a culture of intimidation at the council.

Compare that to how the 10 districts of Gtr Manchester are run and governed.

No other UK city bid for the 2002 Commonwealth Games, only Manchester, because of the financially disastrous Edinbrugh Commonwealth Games and the Sheffield World Student Games.

It is still going on and a lot of the same families are still involved. When I was there it seemed the whole economy was driven by cash and a lot of that cash came from the profits from people selling drugs. Liverpool was on its knees in the 80s and to some extent drugs crime was the main growth industry. I can't imagine a wet lettuce like Jenrick making much impact with some of the characters running Liverpool these days. Culture of intimidation is one hell of an understatement!

Hatton had a cream coloured Rolls Royce parked outside his office in Hale for years, registration number DEG 5 SY

I had no idea at the time who owned it, but I always thought it was a bit, well, precious, and probably owned by a total wanker.

It was later on I found out who it belonged to.

Champagne socialist of epic proportions…. Got his fingers in all sorts, to this day!!

Good luck to Liverpool and Southampton. Good luck, indeed. The best of luck. May the best side prevail. Fairly certain Liverpool have a nailed on 6 points from their remainder of games. Seems they already have. Well done. Good luck too.
