Loan Watch 2019/20

My apologies for the lack of a loan watch report the last round of matches before the international break. I'll have a new one up after the weekend, but here are some of the matches to keep an eye on in regards to our loanees this weekend:

Luke Bolton's Luton Town host Jack Harrison's Leeds United on Saturday
Zack Steffen's Fortuna Dusseldorf will take on Bayern Munich on Saturday
Yangel Herrera's Granada will host Atletico Madrid on Saturday
Mix Diskerud's Ulsan Hyundai can win the league on Saturday with a result in their penultimate K-League match against Jeonbuk, who sit in second place 3 points behind the leaders
Pedro Porro's Real Valladolid host Sevilla on Sunday

Another week of football past us, here's how Manchester City's loanees performed.

Patrick Roberts was an unused substitute for Norwich City's 2-0 win over Everton at Goodsion Park. Roberts has just played 24 minutes in the Premier League this season, according to WhoScored. In the Championship, Leeds United visited Luton Town in a match featuring two City loanees, with Jack Harrison getting the start for The Whites and playing 64 minutes before coming off. Luke Bolton came on in the 90th minute for Luton Town as Leeds won the match 2-1. Tosin Adarabioyo got another start for Blackburn Rovers, playing the full 90 minutes in their 3-2 home victory over Barnsley. Aro Muric was once again left on the bench in favor of Brice Samba for Nottingham Forest in their 0-0 draw with Bristol City, while Matt Smith was also an unused sub in QPR's 2-1 loss to cross-town opponents Fulham.

Zack Steffen was in goal for Fortuna Dusseldorf as they welcomed Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich over the weekend, but had a day to forget as the Bavarians put four past the American keeper in a 4-0 rout. Lukas Nmecha was an unused substitute for Wolfsburg's 2-0 away win over Eintracht Frankfurt. Pedro Porro was an unused substitute for Real Valladolid's home loss to Sevilla and Yangel Herrera was a surprise omission from the matchday squad for Granada's 1-1 home draw with Atletico Madrid. In Ligue 1, Thierry Ambrose came on for the final ten minutes of Metz's 1-1 home draw with Reims.

Joel Latibeaudiere got another start for Twente and played 81 minutes before coming off in their 2-1 away defeat to VVV-Venlo, while elsewhere in the Eredvisie Ko Itakura started in defense for Groningen in their 1-1 draw with Feyenoord, playing the full 90 minutes. In the Dutch second tier, City's loanees had matches on both Friday and Monday as part of a busy week. On Friday, Claudio Gomes' Jong PSV fell 4-1 to De Graafschap, with the Frenchman coming off at halftime. Ivan and Luka Ilic both started for NAC Breda on Friday as they lost at home to Jong Ajax 2-1. Monday night saw all three of the aforementioned City loanees play in the same match as Jong PSV hosted Breda with Gomes and both Ilic brothers starting. Luka played 86 minutes and scored the opener for the visitors, while his brother Ivan came off after 77 minutes picking up a yellow card in the process. Gomes started and played the full 90 for the hosts in a match that ended 1-3 in favor of Breda. Felix Correira started and provided the assist for his side's only goal in their 2-1 loss to Jong Utrecht on Friday and came on as a substitute in the 66th minute of Jong AZ Alkmaar's 2-1 home win over De Graafschap on Monday, picking up a yellow card in the process. Aminu Mohammed was not in the matchday squad for Dordrecht's only match of the weekend on Friday.

In Serie B action, Paolo Fernandes started but was subbed off after 56 minutes for Perugia's 3-0 away loss to Pordenone. Belgian football saw the return of Ante Palaversa from injury over the weekend, as he started and played 76 minutes of Oostende's 2-0 away loss to Brugge. Aleix Garcia started and played the full 90 minutes for Royal Excel Mouscron in their 2-2 draw with Genk. Both Philippe Sandler and Thomas Agyepong are back in training for Anderlecht and Waasland-Beveren, respectively.

Erik Palmer-Brown started and played the full 90 for Austria Wein in their 0-0 away draw to Admira Moedling in the Austrian Bundesliga. In Scotland, Ryotaro Meshino came on for the final ten minutes of Hearts' 3-0 away loss to Kilmarnock, while Daniel Arzani was not selected in the matchday squad for Celtic's 4-0 win over Livingston. Mix Diskerud started and played 69 minutes for Ulsan Hyundai, picking up a yellow card in the process of their 1-1 draw with second placed Jeonbuk. The leaders have a three point lead but inferior goal difference to Jeonbuk with just one match to go, so Ulsan Hyundai only need a point against fifth placed Pohang Steelers to win their third K-League title in club history. A loss would open the title up for Jeonbuk if they were to win at home to sixth placed Gangwon.

Later tonight, Luke Bolton's Luton Town host Charlton Athletic while Jack Harrison's Leeds United head to Reading. Tomorrow night's action sees Matt Smith's QPR host Aro Muric's Nottingham Forest, though it would be a surprise to see either feature. Meanwhile, Tosin Adarabioyo's Blackburn Rovers will be hosting Brentford.

Adarabioyo seems to be really coming into his own at the moment.

Blackburn have been on a good run and he's picked up a couple of MOTMs and been included in the Championship TOTW.

Their fans sound really pleased and many are predicting a bright future.

Hopefully he can continue developing and come back as a viable option.

read city were considering bringing him back in january

Surely we must be looking to recall Roberts from his loan in January? 110 minutes played since August and needs to kick on for the sake of his career. He would be getting more game time with us for goodness sake!
