Well I had to go online to find out who is standing in my Ward! The complacency of the leading party in Salford is actually disgraceful. However the other three parties are almost as bad because if they made themselves known people might be more likely to vote for them.
Unfortunately my principles will not let me not vote, women fought too hard for me to have that privilege but I shan’t be voting for the incumbent party.

I agree everybody should vote, it’s a right that’s hard won and easily lost. We shouldn’t take that for granted.

If people don’t agree with any of the parties then I’d rather they went to the booth and spoiled their ballot than not vote. At least make the effort to get to the polling station.

We have Labour councillors, always have and always will yet they do next to nothing for the area as far as I can see. They sent out a leaflet and it just mentioned about beating up the Tories, nothing about the area itself.

The alternative is the Tories who will do even less.

Never been anything to do with your voting card - thats just to notify you that there is an election and you are registered to vote. It is now however to do with qualifying voter ID

I think the point is made in your post tbh - its about who wants to do something and convince you to vote for them. Its on that basis I am going LD. We have a sitting Tory councillor - well we had, she may have been spirited away by aliens judging her appearances or lack of. Labour gave up @ 10 years ago but for the 3rd election on the spin - 2 local and one GE - the LD's have been very active here. Leafleting with info about what they want to do about who their candidates are - they have been on the knocker and just strolled the streets talking to people so in my book they are earning a win by working for it - once its over I wonder if ET will release the Tory candidate............. ?

Agree. High Speed is essential, hence general political concensus and has been poorly explained to the public.

You can't invest and build an advanced High Speed Network at the same time as starving the railways of investment to prove they need privatisation - there was an ideology in the way of what is the sensible approach that you suggested - subsequently we still haven't got a functioning rail network beyond the nations capital

I'd usually vote Pab Zab and spoil my paper back in Oldham but have actually voted this time as I'm not sure how much a vote for Labour could mean here.

Kids need ID for everything so more likely older types with paper driving licences who haven't moved house in 20/30 years. Another thing is if they check dates, as a lot of people will have expired passports.

Birth Certificates are usually accepted by statutory services as you can't exclude people.
