Lord Lucan

It's amazing to think, isn't it, that in this world of blanket surveillance, where you are supposed to be filmed about thirty times on any given day in central London and all big cities (worse in China), it's become almost impossible to simply disappear off the face of the earth, unless you killed yourself, and that, in a fairly remote spot.

They never got that guy who murdered Olof Palme either, did they? The prime minister of a western country, murdered out in the street. That always seemed utterly bizarre to me. The Swedish authorities claimed they knew exactly who the killer was in 2020. Meanwhile, he had committed suicide in 2000. Not exactly very conclusive, eh?

It's a bit off track, but I wonder if anyone else on here thinks about that lovely little girl Maddy McCann from time to time? I confess I'm haunted by it, up to a point. I've never been quite able to fathom that the parents would have left their little girl at home like that, even it was only a couple of hundred yards away, and even if it was on holiday. But I wouldn't judge them for it. I don't have the right. And they must have gone through an utter, living hell since then.
You'd just never get over it.

Interesting snippet. The current Lord Lucan’s brother-in-law is a member of Blackstone Chambers, same as our good Lord Pannick.
More noteworthy is that his wife, Camilla Bloch, professionally known as Camilla Bingham KC, is the daughter of John Bingham (also known as Lord Lucan) and is a member of One Essex Court.

And her CV is incredible btw. Clearly ridiculously clever. The Blochs are one smart couple!

Finished this off this morning.

Like others, felt sorry for the guy. Even if Lucan escaped, the odds on him still being alive, especially given his lifestyle, are slight. And having seen all three episodes, I think he may have got out of the country, but suicide is still a distinct possibility

Enjoyed it, although progressively less as I watched each episode. I like the guy though. He was unhealthily (although understandably) obsessed but I never got the impression he was unhinged.

Hope he can move on now. I’m afraid his birth mother will never get justice and he needs to somehow come to terms with that.

It's not him. Facial features are well off.

Not surprising they managed to find a conman with same rough age profile, hiding out in Australia.

If you look hard enough for a needle in a haystack, you are bound to find a few nails.
Obviously not him, large slice of confirmation bias.
The guy needs help, when presented with very strong evidence he acted childlike.

TBH, I'm surprised his marriage has survived his obsession, his partner looked and sound thoroughly pissed off.
