Has anyone been and got any tips? I've got some tickets for the New Zealand test match in the Compton stand lower.

Have a walk round it during lunch and drink it in, its the home of cricket and its so atmospheric its untrue.
Take a picnic hamper, you can sit on the practice ground behind the stand opposite the pavillion. Make your hamper a treat too as its a special place.
First time i went it was for a Lanky final and we were allowed on the ground for the trophy presentation and i was mesmirised when in the middle. All those cricketing greats has tread that turf i was on. I had shivers down my spine mate.

I've read some reviews and the mostly slag off the view so this has put my mind at rest. Hopefully we'll get a fine day as I've got some non-cricket fans with me.

But stand there in the middle and imagine facing the first ball on the first day and how many legends have stood in the same place. It's a tremendous feeling.

Its not about the view, rarely at any cricket match have i had a good view, its about the atmosphere and being part of the occasion.
