Are you sitting comfortably? Then we will begin...
I'm sorry but given some of our performances I feel this needs to be said. I can understand people losing confidence through losing games but surely as a professional you need that psychological edge to your game that enables you to put it behind you and try even harder the next game. Also, if Hughes' teams are so hard to break down, then why isn't he installing the tactic that if you know you're having a fucking mare of a game (and everyone has these games) then you can still do your part by closing down players and running round like a mad man, trying to tackle.
Ireland, Vass are the only two who you can be 100% confident in doing this for you - perhaps Zab too. It makes a hell of a difference when you put teams under pressure and get them to play the ball fast and it makes other teams make mistakes. We've had it done to us and when we've played good (especially against Arsenal) that's the tactic that was used, but it hasn't been used often enough.
Also people talking about man management skills and motivational skills of players. Rubbish...complete and utter rubbish. If multiple thousands of pounds of money, if premiership football (and playing out every single persons dream out on this forum) and if playing for a club where the future looks so bright cannot enable you to motivate yourself then what the fucking hell can? They should want to achieve their very best on the field, fulfil their potential and more to the point these are not schoolboys - they are grown men, adults - so they should know the score anyway. What I'm saying is that if certain players are throwing their toys out the pram then they can fucking do one, regardless of ability, because it's a disgrace really considering all they have to do is run around for an hour and a half and earn more than we do per annum. Bit of a pisstake really, eh?
Congratulations if you got to the bottom of this snorefest. If you have any views, let me know.
