I wanted Paqueta but £90mil is an absolute joke even with todays prices

He was 'ok' for West Ham, but struggled with the package of the league and his offensive stats dropped off a cliff compared to his performance in Ligue 1

They spent £50mil on him and he's arguably regressed if anything, £90mil made no sense

I would say though, a WH mate of mine said thay KUMB is a pony website, wouldn't be believing what people on there are saying even if they are ITK

90 mill is a joke, I don't expect City to go anywhere near that. Can't we swap him for Phillips ?

Yeah, Napoli is the big one where i think huge money will be spent , with Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia, one of the prem teams are going to want them, if they continue where they left off. Could see Napoli demand 150mil there was rumours early in the window that they wanted 130 million for one of them. Have a feeling one of those players becomes a record buy

If Rice & Caicedo have gone for £115m then £150m for Kvaratskhella seems a no brainer & move Jack into his more natural position of inside left

We NEED a new midfielder, we don't NEED Paqueta especially for the fees discussed

Just looking at the Prem, you've got Mac Allister, Maddison & now Olise move for £40mil or less

I dunno what Eze would cost, but I doubt it's as much as they want for Paqueta.

And surely there is value outside of England

In Portugal alone you've got Otavio (€51mil RC), Goncalves (€80mil RC), Horta (€30mil RC)....or we could Gazump Napoli move for Veiga (€40mil), or Kubo at Real Sociedad who was electric last year has a RC of €60mil

If we are gonna spend best part of £100mil we may as well go and get kvaratskhelia

Do want to highlight I think Paqueta is a class player, but I just don't see how we've come to the conclusion he's worth as much as West Ham would want, if he smashes it again this season then his release clause activates next year but for now he's had one OK season in the Prem

Cannot put mcatee week in week out and expect him to fill in for kdb as he is nowhere near that level but if you want a season where we don’t challenge for the big cups then yes put palmer and mcatee in all season . By that way both are quality players but atm are they good enough for the best team in the world because what we are .

We are an experienced body short but let's not act like the other clubs we'll be competing with have super deep sqauds with no younger players as their immediate back-ups

What we can say is that our starting midfield/attack is clearly the best of the above

And what we can also say is our defence is stronger/deeper than those above
