Theres roumors circulating that podolski is thinking of leaving cologne in january due to lack of european football etc, le arse supposedly keeping tabs.
I certainly think he could come here and do a job for us, and is fairly versatile which is always a bonus. What you guys reckon, could he be the tevez replacement?

I guess i would need info from guys here who watch Bundasliga tbh as i cant say i have followed his career much outside of watching him for Germany.

reputedly he has something of a questionable attitude so not sure we want him given the exits of robinho ade bellers etc, also he seens to do more at wold cups/euros than he ever does domestically - not sure how he is doing this season though, but for me there are better and younger players out there

He failed at FC Bayern, because he was some sort of homesick at the time. This seems to be his biggest problem. He has been much better in the national team in the last years, but he is playing for germany for seven years now, that team is like a family for him

He went to Bayern with 21 in 2006. There is not much players that made it in that age at Bayern - even Schweinsteiger and Hargreaves way at Bayern was not very easy there after their breakthrough. There was a lot of trouble behind the scenes in this years - certainly not good for a 21 year old that did not grow up in a system like this. There were a lot players coming and going. And as he was playing forward he was fighting with Pizarro/Roy Makaay in the first year - against Luca Toni and a Miro Klose in his good first year form in the second. All of them a lot more experienced.

Could be that you recognize all of the players.

At Cologne he is the star player - the one that makes them win and he had a lot of impact this year. But one player alone cannot make all games. He is on 9 goals and 5 assists in 14 games this year.

He thinks about moving. He is not 21 anymore. He got more muscle to bite himself through now.

At the national squad he has 95 games and 43 goals.

There's a reason hes at cologne - he's wank

You're joking, surely. Koln are team that developed him and as soon as things didnt work out at bayern he went back. He's extremely highly rated in germany, and still gets in the national team most games despite playing for a team that dont really compete. He's the boss at koln, highest earner, best player and the team is built around him. Going forward they are pretty good but at the back they're shite. They look like they could go down this year. I'd have him here in a heartbeat, he plays similarly to bellamy, without working as hard. It seems like he's been about forever but hes only 26.

This the same podolski that we was after a few seasons back when we just got the money, and he said in the media that there's no way he'd ever join city if I recall right, no thanks.

I remember the intrest in him, if i remember correctly spurs were sniffing around aswel, nut i dont remember any bad comment towards us, more along the same lines of other players we were linked with at that time 'i want to play football, not just for the money' type of thing. I could be wrong though...

Nope

The newest is that Schalke wants him - that is nothing from the newspapers but confirmed by Schalkes manager.

Had a great game today again. Is second in the scorer list in Germany behind Pizarro (gets better with every year) with 13 goals and 5 assists in 14 games.

Podolski will be properly europes most wanted player in january. But my guess is he will stay with Cologne until the summer and will leave after the Euros with 12 months left on his contract

Close this thread - its twaddle.

I guess there's a reason why he was stripped of his captaincy this year despite being the unquestionable star on the team. And why would we want him? There's arguably a place for one more classy CB, otherwise use the squad and the youngsters.

He is a strange player in that his international career far outshines his Bundesliga career. Normally it is the other way round. For Bayern Munich he was a 1 in 4 merchant and in the 2009-10 season for Cologne he scored 3 goals in 31 games. This year he has banged in 13 in 14 games.

His international record is unbelievable though with 43 goals in 91 games.

for bayern he had injuries and take a look at how many games he started. He moved to bayern to early and is now 26 years old. i cant believe people are holding this against him. many young players have moved to big clubs too early and then found their feet. Also last season he played as a winger....This season more of a striker
