Lunch Isolation

Every year there'd be someone irate mother in the local rag moaning about it, but they still stuck to the policy. They eventually moved with the times but I think it was in the late 80s or early nineties when they did.
Can't force it... Remember this bird from primary school who got stick from the teachers for wearing shorts that looked like a skirt. Times change!!

Did a cub camp a few years ago, on the Sunday we went hiking. Lined up all the cubs, about 3 dozen, and ready to go, all of them were wearing trackies or combats. Myself and the other leaders were all in shorts. Bloody kids.

My eldest grandson who is 6 on Sunday joined the Beavers a couple of months ago and went on his first camp a couple of weeks ago. Came home with skinned knees, a bee sting, and covered in mud, but he absolutely loved it.

And so they should. I got two whacks with a size 12 trainer the first week of senior school for forgetting a towel for PE. More than a bit OTT.

By the time my son was at senior school they didn't even have showers. They had to do PE and spend the rest of the day stinking until they got home.

Haha excellent mate:-) Was a huge part of my life growing up, sounds like he's gonna love it!!

The chief scout now is Bear Grylls, his daughters said "why do only boys get all the fun?", now scouting UK allow girls in :-)

His dad was really into scouting and his other grandad is a scout leader. He didn't stand a chance, good job he loves it.

'Within this week'?

I would grade that as an 'F'. I would request that, until they are able to type a coherent letter, you are totally fine with your child having a sandwich and a piece of fruit.

It seems 'isolation' is a term or process used to push you into paying and so is presumably a punishment. The first thing I would be doing is asking them, why, as 'teacher' do they deem it necessary to vicariously punish a child for circumstances completely out of the child's control. It seems the threat of isolation (or detention) is being used by nothing other than a form of blackmail which, in English and Welsh law, is illegal.

I would also be asking the school what exactly they expect the child to learn from being placed into isolation. They are blatantly affecting an innocent child's social being for money.

I would also in very polite terms, explain that if they dare threaten your child's happiness and/or innocence for monetary purposes again, they will be receiving a Solicitors letter.

Sorry to bang on about scouts but there was a rule, if you don't bring a tea towel then we'll use your best tshirt instead. That blue and white rag kit got owned with a full fat bacon frying pan haha.

Shaming the kids by putting them in isolation is not acceptable. Not only is it punishing the children for something they have no control over, it is singling them out, embarrassing them and setting them up for potential bullying.
Whoever thought this policy is a good idea is an utter fucking moron and shouldn't be anywhere near kids.

Spot on.

If that had happened at my school (left in 2008) there would have been loads of bullying.

Really sad.
