m56 before the QPR game...

Who was on the m56 before the game when it was at an absolute stand-still, and as a result turned around on the motorway, went the wrong way down the motorway.....and the wrong way up the entrance on the motorway to travel an alternative route....?

Sure a lot of city do the same, so must be some people off here. I took a video at the time as I was shocked how many people were just turning round on the motorway.....glad I did now.....all part of that incredible day to me....

I was there. Stuck in outside lane 10 cars back so couldn't move. Rumour was it was someone threatening to jump. Fergie perhaps?

yep was at an absolute standstill near the M60 junction so went down the hard shoulder and up the slip road in the wrong direction along with everyone else and then looped around

did it clear in time for the game for those stuck further up in it? it was literally at a standstill and seemingly gridlocked

What time was this? I was driving up from the south on the day of the game (I'm from Manc but had been down there working for a few days - just to clarify!). I was debating whether to come off the M6 for the M56 or the M62. Ended up using the M62 at about 1245. Would I have been stuck in the traffic if I'd have decided on getting off for the M56?!?

I left mine (Knutsford) at about 1.15 so was around then really. I was in the outside lane but enough people were giving up and turning around that spaces were created so we could drive across the lanes and back up the entrance of the motorway (Wythenshawe entrance I think it was).

Was nervous I wasn't going to make it at one point.
