M60 access closed last night? Why?

I was driving home to Northwich from Old Trafford cricket ground last night and was going to turn off the A56 on to the M60 in Stretford but to my dismay the slip road on to the M60 was closed, so I had to go to Altrincham along the A56 to connect with the new A556 road, which took ages longer.
Does anyone know how long access on to the M60 is blocked?
