Think Burning Man is a lot more arty/cultural/modern day hippie, although I know it's been criticised recently for becoming a bit corporate and elitist.

The Mad Max festival just looks like a laugh. Racing around in souped up dune buggies dressed in cut off leathers and goggles. What's not to like?

The latter is actually in the SoCal desert (Burning Man is in Nevada). My bad.
